I just recently payed my car off and i just recently purchased a Kenetic Motorsports stage 2 turbokit. My car still has an auto tranny. Is there any kind of modifications I have to do to my motor before I get the kit installed? How much psi can my tranny handel?

For the engine I would suggest a compression and leak down test; if it tests good, then make sure the basic maintenance is up to date and go for it.

I do not have enough experience with the automatic so I will let someone else comment.

do a 5 spd swap before the turbo..

your trans is gonna DIE.. they usually dont make it much more than 150k miles on a STOCK car..

if you turbo your car with the existing auto, you will quickly see how weak they are..

i cant stress to you enough about how VW autos should NOT be used in performance applications..

the turbo is going to make LOTS more torque than a stock engine would ever think of making, and the trans is not engineered to take the torque.. the TDI auto is even weak.. you never see a hot rod TDI with an auto trans, and for good reason..

anyways, your going to HAVE to do a 5 spd swap eventually.. because if you dont do a 5 spd swap before you turbo it, then you WILL HAVE TO once you are dead on the side of the road with a grenaded trans..

So very, very wrong . The only reason autos die is because they're poorly maintained and high miles by the time a 'modder' gets it. They have clutches inside, and they wear out. Then it slips and is called dead...but all it needs is $50 worth of clutches. With the proper internal mods, they're superior to the pieces of fragile ceramic that VW used for manuals.

You don't have to do anything to the motor. You might want to switch to a manual trans, though, or beef up the Auto..

Replace it with a manual >_< If you are doing trans work to beef up an auto for turbo, just install a manual, it will save you TONS of money in the end. I bet you could get a 5 spd swap for under $500
