So my steering column developed a pretty good wobble. Upon inspection there is what appears to be a plastic needle bearing and thin plastic ring that has slid down out of the bottom of the column tube. The bentley refers to this as a 'bushing' is this right? What is supposed hold this up in the column tube? Can I replace this without removing the steering column? And if I do remove the column should I consider replacing any other wear parts.
      Thanks,
      Ian

      This is an 85 8v

Fredybender on here makes a special retaining ring. Here is his ebay ad - it has a pretty good explanation of what happens

Take a SS hose clamp....grease and push the bushing/bearing race back up the tube. Clamp in place.
Cut the free 'ear' off of the clamp.

      total cost .37 cents

It's the upper bearing that needs complete replacement usually....fortunately you can get the part and replace that one without removing the entire column.
