Local dealer has an extremely clean 2008 Roadster with only 21k miles. It would replace my '03 GTI as my daily driver I'd like to get some advice from the collective wisdom.

Can someone tell me what timing belt interval is on this car?

Did all of the '08s come with the dinky little armrest? It is missing on this car.

I would plan to have the satellite module installed. Are there any other updates that you feel are essential to make it comfortable daily driver?

2008 was a generation change year. Are there any big things I need to look out for?

Is it worth spending another $10 - $12k to get an '11? What would I get for the money that would make it worthwhile?

Thanks in advance for the help.

    Bill

I actually got the same car about 6 months ago, with about 47k. Mine is not a daily driver, BUT I do drive it a LOT more than my older 2002 TT it replaced.

Check the stereo, the amplifier in the trunk for the bose system tends to blow due to corrosion build up due to moisture. If not under warranty, you are looking at a 800-1000 dollar repair.
Mine had to be replaced as it was draining the battery every day.

Also, check to see if it has run flats. I forgot it didn't have a spare and mine didn't have run flats on the stock 18's, the fix a flat crap does nothing for a blown side wall.

Thanks for the info. This one has about a year left on the original warranty and then the two year CPO. I'm also looking at a couple of '11s. Are there any other reasons not to get the '08 and save the extra $10k?

Mine does not have the little "arm rest" pad either. That must have been some option. I have a DSG/3.2 Coupe/Mag Ride. It's an 08 as well. I have no idea why one would buy something newer if there are good used ones to buy. Mine had 40K on it when I bought it 4 months ago and looks brand new.
