By the time we see the Golf 7 here in the US, Europe will probably already be unveiling their Golf 7 R

I'm guessing a two year or so gap between Europe and US Golf 7 R's. Given if we even were to get the next gen R.

The R was 290HP and the RS was......360HP

The cover has the MKVII GTI, Ford Focus ST and a Vauxhall.

Yeah, read the same article today. My calculation equates 290 HP to approx 216 KW, which is firmly into STi territory as far as engine performance goes, wrapped up in the refined VW interior and chassis. Golf R expect 2013, probably towards end of year.

The Golf RS with the 360 HP, approx 268 KW is expected to be a tuned version of the 5 cylinder turbo in the Audi RS3, which should prove to be a missile.

Bring it on, I will be placing order number 1.
