WHEN: 8/25 (& 8/26 for those that want to make this a two day trip)
WHERE: Mt. Washington and surrounding areas
    COST:
    Gas - ??
    Food- ??
    Lodging - ??
    Mt. Washington Auto Road:
Car and Driver: $25 (includes a bumper sticker and audio tour on CD or cassette in English, French or German)
    Each additional adult: $8
    Children ages 5-12: $6
Children ages 4 and under: Free

I know that people will be coming from all over, so I have included several stops along the route to give opportunities for people to join. If at all possible, please chime in and let me know where you plan to join (I’ll make a notation on the attending list) so we know and can wait for you at a certain stop. If any one would like to add a stop, let me know and we can work it in. One last note is that, THIS IS A LOT OF DRIVING!! I personally don’t mind, especially since it’ll be broken up, but that’s just me (Plus I plan to stay the night up there….somewhere) Feel free to break away from the group at your leisure or when you’ve had enough.

As a disclaimer, lets try to keep this gtg as safe as possible. Although many of these roads are rural and allow for some spirited driving, please remember that they are public and will have other traffic (Especially motorcycle and pedestrian). I hope that there is someone familiar with these roads that can lead the pack, set the pace and to keep things safe. Remember, know your limits and drive within them.
    Lets have some fun!

^ Damn....didn't have my car then!! I didn't even have a vw for that matter lol

I'd be down pretty much any weekend starting in May (except for the last since I'll be in San Fran).....I was kinda hoping to do one of their sunrise deals, but I realize not everyone is a morning person lol.

    Sunrise Drive Dates:
    Sunday, June 24
    Sunday, July 29
    Sunday, August 26

Bummer, it would be nice to have a gtg up there. driving the Kancamangus is great and Mt. Washington would be a first.

Dependent on the date, I may be able to get a couple other local Rs to join.

I will track this post a little longer and see what happens.

How many you think would be able to join?

including me there are 4 Rs that could potentially go from my buds. I also have a buddy with an A4 Quattro and 1 with a Mk5 gti that I'm sure would join. So 6 cars total potential.

I'm leaning more towards the 25th/26th....I really would like to do the sunrise drive (As a group or on my own). If everyone is willing to meet at 4:30 am on the 26th we could go together otherwise we could do the gtg on the 25th. Once more people chime in with their thoughts we can start to put a plan together. Maybe some locals can toss out some ideas on what we can do besides the drive to the summit, cruising the kangamangus hwy, etc. Maybe after the Mt. Washington drive we can cruise over to the Ben & Jerry's factory (~2hr ride west). IDK....

Let's set it! August 25th a Saturday sounds good! I think the Sunday may be tough for some that have to work on the Monday, IMO.

Let's start planning! Yes definitely drive the Mt. Washington Auto road. The Kancamangus is a must. There is also a road that starts from the Kancamangus and ends near Attitash mountain. I'll have to look it up and get back to you all.

Indeed....8/25 (and 8/26 for me , it'd be entirely too much driving in one day otherwise). I'm working on a route (Google Map) with POIs, gas stations, resturants, etc which will be posted tonight or tomorrow. Nothing set in stone, but I figure it's better than having nothing. Anyone familiar with the roads up that way, pm me and I'll see if I can incorporate into the trip so that everything flows smoothly... Bear Notch is on there!
