I just found out that there is a warning beep that comes on when the temperature dips below 39 F. It kinda scared me a little cus I haven't had any other VW before.

The one listed a few posts back? That's just for remote. Not kessy (aka handle) unless there is another vag com option i didn't see.

I'd like to find a lower temp/humidity day to play. The pit is like driving on bubblegum.

Specs: Golf R, 8140 miles, APR II+ file, milltek catted non-res valved TBE, EvoMS intake, stock wheels and tires.

Hitting the dyno later to see if I can quantify some numbers.
Does this seem kind of slow to anyone else?

Stage 2 GTIs can get similar speeds on the smaller turbo. K04 GTIs have gotten to 11s, and 12s on pump gas. I thought a stage II+ R would get to 12s on pump gas pretty easily.

I know its a bit heavier but this just seems slow for the car. What times have others been seeing?

Is yours the upgraded version (one way to find out is if the Sirius station logos are visible)?

I can only finger-scroll down and there's definitely a lag when going through artists. And the right knob won't let me scroll down with it either.

Yea those numbers do seem pretty low considering someone broke into the 13's with bone stock R with manual trans.

GTIs with DSG = faster shifts and better gear ratios for the 1/4 mile. Comparing the two isn't exactly fair in the US unless you are talking manual vs manual.

Even manual vs manual. You can get 13s with a k03 GTI.

I'm sure some of them had more prep than others but still. I assumed the Golf R with 300+ whp would be an absolute rocket. I assumed 12s would be pretty easy with bolt-ons.

Any more data would be appreciated since obviously we just have n=1 sample size so far in this thread.

I haven't used the Sirius since I bought the car. It's expired now, but I don't remember any logos .

What about other lists? Playlist, Genre, Albums. Can you scroll through those?

With the R being my first AWD car, I discovered that performance in the snow is unbelievable! My last car (SRT-4) was worthless, with just a coating of snow on the ground I would have to launch in 2nd gear, and take corners like my grandmother. With the R, launch in 1st while turning from a stop sign and mash the throttle, you'd think you're on dry pavement. I will never own a non-AWD car again.

    awesome.

If you think the Haldex system is good try the other AWD systems in the bigger Audi's A4,A6,A8. They are even better.

    LAWLZ.

I learned that the Golf R understeers during drifts. Either that or I'm not punching the gas hard enough.

    It's probably the latter.

I learned that my R's stock exhaust sets off car alarms like crazy in my parking garage at work. I usually arrive early and leave late, so most of the cars are not there. Today I ha to go home for lunch and wow... I set off at least 3 car alarms.

I can't imagine how many more I can get with the catless DP I just ordered lol.

I learned that an engine replacement if your dealer calls you on ECU tuning will take 25 phone calls, numerous emails, 5 weeks, 5 pages worth of parts/service logs and close to 100 hours of labor.

Also, in exchange for the hassle you'll get a $200 dealer credit voucher and a free pair of VW mittens.

I'm very happy to report that my car is back in the hands of it's rightful owner.

You can vagcom your car to turn off all lights when your ignition is off.

I was stunned the day I noticed this. See, for whatever reason, I make it a point to turn on, or turn off lights. Cars with auto? Still turning it on and off. I think it creates a ritual for when I leave the car, so I don't do anything careless or whatever.

Buuuut... I chose not to vagcom it, because thanks to my sidemarker delete, I get this if I leave the lights on and the parking brake off and get out of the car:

That looks a lot better then when you showed it to me at Nam Jam. The red bulb looks slick.

I learned that if I start driving without my seatbelt on (parking garage), eventually the ding sound changes after a certain period of time.
