Related to that.. is there any harm in leaving your ipod plugged in ALL the time? Does it draw a current when the car is off?

Mine got corrupted after leaving it in the car overnight. Now I have to take it back to the Apple store because the computer can't read it.

Only reason I bought the stupid thing was to use in the car...

No tool required. There is a video up on it. You just put pressure over the bolt end and pull on the wiper arm. Some side to side motion helped. The driver's side was much easier than the passenger side.

I've had mind plugged in for years (when you count my GTI). No issues. VERY occasionally I will have to do a factory reset to it for some reason or another, but that might happen every 6 months or so. I do notice that on super cold or hot days the iPod doesn't seem to like the extreme temperatures and is a little glitchy, but if I drive around for awhile before starting it up (listen to satellite or blue tooth) it works fine.

I am soo bummed, I am only Stage 1 right now but I was literally going to order a HPFP and Intake this week and go Stage 1+. I am really nervous about even doing these mods at this point. I may just focus on suspension for now and wait to see how everyone's clutches hold up. I am probably gonna do KW coilovers, HPA Competition Haldex Controller and the HPA trans mount insert.

That's just a general iPod thing, they don't like getting cold

I went stage 1 at about 1500 and stage 2+ at about 1800. Now have 2700. No clutch issues to report

Thanks for the update, I need to hear more experiences like this, you must be pushing close to 350 horse and torque at this point too. Please keep up posted, stage 2+ is where i really wanted to be in the near future.

I learned there is a light sensor in the left dial (RPM's). When light is hitting it, it brightens up the numbers on the RPM and the Speedo. Where there is no light, there it turns off. Sorta annoying when I'm in the underground garage and I can't see the numbers. You can try it yourself by going somewhere dark and shining a flashlight on the left side. You'll see the numbers light up. Makes me wonder why they couldn't have just used that sensor for the auto-light feature...

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking... but if it's what I think it is... the answer is "yes". lol

Any iDevice will plug into the cord in the center armrest console and work with your radio automatically. You just choose MDI as your source. (Under the "media" button)

Also, today I learned that I have a reset button for the TPMS in the glove box! Yay!

Much easier than it was in my GTI.

I hate the individual wheel sensors. Picked up a new set of Detroits without them.

I don't really mind it. Actually, it notified me of a problem, indirectly. The whole reason it came on is b/c when we were doing the intercooler swap this weekend my friend noticed that one of the valve stem caps was coming off... he put it back on and filled the tire to the proper specs. I drove the car around for about 50 miles then the light came on. When I checked pressures on all four the three that we HADN'T reset (set from the dealer) were all running about 10-15 lbs too HIGH.

So I let some air out of all three of those and now that I reset the light it hasn't come on again, so I'm assuming the issue was that three of the four were running too high.

But without the light, I probably wouldn't have checked the other three... so... it's a good thing, right???

I learned today that if I walk up to the trunk it automatically unlocks without having to touch the driver door. This maybe because I changed the locks to open all doors not just the driver side. Handy feature.

The only thing there's proximity unlock for with KESSY is the steering wheel.

This thread should be renamed to, "What I learned from not reading the owners manual."

My KESSY scared the crap out of me. I was wearing gym shorts with no pockets. I decided to leave my keys in my gym bag. Closed the trunk. BEEP. It locked. WHAT? Key inside trunk! nooooooo. Doors locked....FORTUNATELY the thing unlocked as easily as it locked, even with the key inside the hatch.

I feel a bit slow...but it took me about 1000 miles to realize that this car shifts pretty smoothly at around 2500-3000 rpm....and not above. I feel like I have to really massage/ride the clutch to get it to shift smoothly above or below that level. Thoughts?

I guess it depends on your definition of smooth...but my R shifts smoothly at 6000 rpms too

I agree with you. If anything, I've experienced the polar opposite of what .:Ru4dubn¿ feels! When you shift at high RPM under heavy acceleration the car just SURGES without the slightest hint of harshness. The acceleration is like silk, seriously like the car is saying "thank you, may I have another"
My super leet mods, cosmetic/touch/feel only for negligible Vortex cred: HPA dogbone mount, Dieselgeek short-shifter, aluminum look glovebox handle, R logo seat handle inserts, OEM LED tail lights, smoked side markers, and LED interior lighting.
