Learned that I get free road side assistance and that my local dealer that put the tires on, damaged one of the new tires

I'm stuck right now on the side of the road, with a flat tire waiting on road side assistance

Today when I was all alone on a curved on ramp I learned that I could get the rear end to step out a bit and it made me smile until the nanny intervened and made me behave

Dude! This really sucks. Have you had a chance to look at the tire yet? Damaged bead I'd imagine? At this point you might to get the bead broken on the others to check for damage on those as well. No bueno!

    Also, no spare?

well turns out, i only "streched" the tire. leaking air due to not being at 50 PSI

they had 35, eventho they put 40 in them, but since I opted for a 225 tire and 19x8.5, the pressure has to be above 40 psi or it could deflate ..apparently and only on 1 wheel

Coincidentally, it's only the wheel that they messed up on in the first place ...

I'm good now I think, but have to make sure to be 45+PSI at all times.

PS: Did you pick up your springs yet

Dang, 45+ psi must ride a little rough!

I did. The hardware needed for install should be in next week and I'm hoping to get them installed Friday. We shall see.

interesting. i had 19x8.5 HREs on my mkiv R32 with 225 tires also. i ran them at 40psi and never had an issue. i had no idea they had to be inflated so high. i always had that thought in the back of my head when i was cornering harder than normal though, that my tire would roll and id gouge the rim in the concrete. im glad it never happened to me. hope you get up and running swiftly!

Were you stopped with the parking brake on? If so, they go out when the parking brake is engaged.

City lights are different than DRLs. The city lights on the R are not activated.

The DRL's work perfect and come on when ebrake is down as it should, but the City lights don't turn on when the headlights are on, no biggy just something that I learned about my Golf R today

Didn't read the whole thread....but has anyone noticed the DRL's turn off when the motor is running and the e-brake is set?

    Just noticed it myself today.

There's a storage net underneath the rear package tray (hey, I'm 6'4" so I never saw it).

I have it but I really don't know how I'm supposed to effectively use it

I keep a spare microfiber cloth in there for now, and a random wrench. Not that I would know what to do with the thing.

I bet it would hold a small set of jumper cables.

OOOOH so it goes under the parcel shelf? My dealer had it installed on the floor of the cargo shelf so it seemed rather useless

I think you're talking about two separate things. There is a storage net attached to the under side of the cargo shelf... and then a storage net that can be set up in any number of weird configurations in the hatch. The cargo net for the hatch seems to be more of a PIA than its worth for me... but maybe others have used theirs with some success.

someone said the hatch one can be set up to hold a 6 pack very effectively.

Cargo Shelf Net - Holds towels, Rain X (closed tightly), Flash Light, Tire Gauge, and a Multi Tool. I noticed the added weight also helped cut out some of the vibration that might have been the panel jumping around.

Cargo Net - This thing is awesome to keep groceries and other stuff from moving around. I have used it to one side to help hold wash bucket and other road trip items in place. Also used it to hang dry some towels while zipped into the inner pocket, was windy and towels kept blowing. May work to dry clothes and or other items while at the beach or park. I've also used it to hold a couple of six packs in place but it is a bit of a pain to free them and or stick the necks through to secure them in place.

Cargo shelf net--frolf discs and a couple grocery bags. Otherwise no idea what it's for.

Okay, don't laugh. I've had the car for almost two weeks and it's so awesome that I don't have the attention span to sit there and go over everything with a fine toothed comb. I keep on discovering new things about the car. Today, I looked at the rear all lit up at night for the first time and realized that it has LEDs for the license plate lights! Props to Wolfsburg for the little details!

Don't worry your not the only one. Alittle over a week having mine I came home one night, left it running in the driveway while pulling in the trash can, and said to myself "why is it so bright back there?" LEDs!

if im not mistaken, our headlights adjust to a tighter and higher pattern the faster we go. im not quite sure what speed the beam changes at, but i saw it on a video of a dyno run. pretty cool and definitely something ive never heard of about our cars.

I learned that our stock brakes are actually Brembo brakes (or so says someone I met today that used to work for Brembo). Not sure if that is common knowledge or not but I didn't know it.

Soon after I got my R I changed the settings for KESSEY so all the doors would unlock the first time you touch the inner handle. Yesterday, it didn't do that. At first, I was puzzled, but then realized I'd grabbed my wife's key instead of mine. So it looks like the KESSEY settings are specific to which key you use. Sort of a cool feature, I think (although she wants me to set her key up to unlock all the doors at once, too)!

could someone post pictures and maybe explanations of the alternative ways to utilize the cargo net in the trunk? I'm confused about any way besides the flat on the bottom way.

Her key to the R? Or a different VW key?

Her key to the R. So different keys to the same car can be coded differently.

The front rotors at least are made by Brembo, the calipers however are not. The rears are TRW and I forget what the fronts are but, they're not Brembo. And I was just in there today.

I learned however today that the rear caliper mount is held on by two very tight and hard to get to 14mm triple square bolts. Yeesh. Had to get my breaker bar out to get them off.
