I have this problem periodically, probably 60% of starts. If I am stopped and I just let off brake but do not give gas the car shutters and lunges a little forward with a small rattle. Happens alot in parking lots.

    Anyone else have this?

Anyone have this but get software update or mechtronic replaced and solved problem?

the dsg is trying to emulate a slushbox, including that forward creep. if you don't have the forward creep, you will hear more complaints from people saying that the car doesn't creep forward.

The strange part is that it doesn't do that 40% of the time. Mine creeps fwd no matter what (except when on a slope, when the hill-hold keeps the car from running backwards).

I understand creeping forward but mine is more of almost stall, rattle, lunge forward. It feels like the car lunges forward in first and then since no gas goes to neutral. This does not happen if I give gas right after letting off brake. I am used to but know it is not right. I am at almost 37K and it has been doing it a while so I will just wait for the 40K service. No sense taking time off of work to have dealer tell me they cannot reproduce or is normal....

Ah, I understand now. If you had a vag-com you could try this:

Also a scan for potential errors on the tranny would be helpful (although I doubt you'll find any).

No Vag yet. Will probably get one soon. The link sounds a little crazy to me, maybe a last resort but since I learned to live with it for will just wait for 40K service and hope they can reproduce. Thanks for the input.

same exact issue with mine. They replaced the clutch and mecatronics unit. DSG's suck.

Try the adaptation procedure listed with Vagcom. 61 and 60 are especially important, they help the mechatronics understand the "kiss" points for the clutches. It can make a night & day difference on "roll off" from a stop.
I have installed most of the popular bolt-on mods for a 2008 R32, minus suspension work. I know a lot about electronics and car audio, and have experience with VCDS ("vagcom"). I'm a radar/lidar countermeasure enthusiast. I like track days, autocross, and US Highway 129. I love aural pleasure.
