Might catch some heat in here for this.. but I'll give it a go.. I'm also sending out free stickers to people with cars that fits the bill.. Tell your friends to tell their friends!

      What is Jermanese Auto?

Jermanese Auto is a style of tuning which German cars are modified with Japanese tuner parts or carry that style typically found in Japanese imports..

At the moment, this will live as a category under SQUARE!SPOKES.. think of it as a sub-brand.

      What's up with the name?

      German + Japanese = Jermanese

Auto = Well.. automobile and the fact that Volkswagen always goes "Das Auto", so I figure it is appropriate here.

      How did this start?

For me personally, I come from Japanese imports (Honda/Toyota) before I owned my Volkswagen GTI..

The Japanese tuner style has always appealed to me, but at the same time I wanted to try something different by getting into VWs..

From the very beginning, I already had plans to modify my GTI in this manner. I would find myself browsing in Japanese car forums and keeping my eyes out on the latest trends despite owning a VW..

Sometimes I feel like I don't even fit in the "normal" euro community, but at the same time that was okay with me because along the way.. I've come across acquaintance and friends who are also interested in this style of tuning and supports the movement..

What are my goals with this?

My goal is to bring together like minded people to share & learn from each other.

I always felt like I was an "outsider" in the typical VW communities, so it would be nice to unite a group of people who appreciates this style of tuning to motivate each other..

Also, a lot of this involves being creative and finding ways to make parts work for your application, so the more support the better.

If this picks up momentum.. I have plans to feature cars on here as well.

      Who can join?

Anyone with a German Car (Volkswagen, BMW, Benz, Porsche, etc) that have intentions to modify their cars this way.

      Where do I start?

He'd probably prefer it to be a full set....but I guess the old ricer kids used to roll around with steelies on the front, so maybe a pair in the rear will do the trick.

In all seriousness though, I see what he is doing here and it's not complicated. We are bombarded at the Vortex with bags, RS's, alphards, Euro bumpers and plates, etc. It seems to be to the point where this is "the" culture and people who decide to go different ways with their car are frowned upon. I'm not saying going against the grain is always the best idea. Usually the grain is what looks best and that's why people stick to it, but in this case, I think there is room for other GOOD options like this.

I like both the "euro" and "import" scene, but just like "stance" became universal and popular, you don't have to build your car the way the "scene" wants it built in order to look great.

I personally like to DRIVE my car, so I won't be doing bags or highly stretched tires. I lowered it as much as I can in order to still tackle the twisties in the Mountains, take a pothole or two on these mean streets, and get into the grocery store parking lot without making the world wait for me. I love the LOOK of most of the cars always plastered on here, but that's where it ends, it's just not a practical or fun way to drive a car IMO. I also happen to like the look of more of the Japanese styling and the GTI pulls it off quite well. The lack of decent aftermarket for the Euro cars is a little ridiculous as well. We get either an OEM lip, a knockoff OEM lip, a few hideous options from "high end" Euro tuners, or knockoffs of these hideous options, in carbon fiber. /rant

      Well said senior!

Another thing i want to achieve with this is to show manufactures there is a market out there.. that way parts would be more readily avalible for us.

If you look at most of the Japanese wheel offerings for 5x112 pattern, the specs are usually very weak like 18x8 +50 or something.. Sure that's nice for someone looking to track their car or something, but there are also those that would like a aggressive fitments as well.

Indeed, 18x8 et45 here....but they should look and perform better with a slight touch of camber and some 255/35/18s Or I'll settle with 245s

I can get into this. Interesting concept, at the very least. In the past, I've had a turbo Volvo (turbobrick) and an old Pontiac GAGT, but I used to love working on Nissans, specifically 240SXs. Always will have a soft spot in my heart for them, and for the crazy Japanese styling. I'm interested to see some of those ideas and how they could transfer to the Euro market.

Their presence is not that strong here in the US at the moment.. maybe some of us can help fix that

Not my style at all, but props anyway.

I'm not a fan of mixing styles...kind of like I won't order shrimp with a Big Mac. Sawblades was a one time thing for me and that was a close to mixing styles as I will get.

      But, to each is own.

Can I have a sticker for not talking trash?

I'd like to throw a set of Rotas on my mkV, I've also owned Ksports (albeit for only 6 months). My old mk3 Jetta has bronze Rota GT3's, a hood scoop from a mid 90's legacy and Mitsu turbo instead of a Garrett. I'd say I fall into the Jermanese category
