    ross-tech vag software plus a vag-com OBDII connector would be the best in my opinion.

    digital volt tester and compression tester would be nice to have to.

    for boosted engines you want a boost tester, can vary from fog machines to just a air compressor can reveal leaks in your vacumn lines.
