Well, 9 months out of the year I daily this:

The NSX thread had me thinking, as the OP mentioned he wants to drive the NSX everywhere... something I can absolutely sympathize with.
Quick background: My foray into cars only started 3 years ago where I quickly went from spontaneously combustible 16V VWs to e36 M3s to my newest and ultimate obssession with M Coupes. I've gone through 19 cars in 3 years now (buying/selling/driving) and my most recent 4 have been 3 M Coupes and a Z3 Coupe... and I simply cannot get enough of them.
For the amount I've paid for my M Coupe I could've been driving almost any e36 M3 or other *more* sensible BMW or even a non-finnicky japanese daily, but it simply does not compare. I don't believe in compromises, and using a car merely as an appliance or tool to get you around does not compute with me. With two seats I am compromising a good bit, but at the benefit of having a car I only see one of every 6 months... if that. It's exotic, affordable, has a boot and gets as many looks as the Ferraris next to me at Cars & Coffee. But it's got 120k miles and it's paltry 240hp keep me grinning every time I throw it down a gear and remember that pure horsepower does not equate happiness. Hell, I flew to Phoenix and drove it back to Chicago in a weekend.
It's tiny, uncomfortable, loud, rattles more than a 10 year old Kia and keeps me on the Z3 subforum several times a day. But it's the best, most irrational and amazing car I could be driving now and I'm going to continue enjoying 100% of my time in it because it's that good. I've always wanted one since I got my license and 4 of them later, it's as special as always.
So who else?

I've daily'd two of my "dreams."
First was a BMW 745i -- the turbo one.
Let's just call that was a letdown. From the time I picked it up there was work to do, mainly catching with neglect. And it was basically an OK car -- nothing too fast except above 80MPH. A 2.93 final drive was not at all helpful, and neither was the automatic. It was long and low and 100% completely out of place in Southern Vermont.
The other dream really did come true, though it was a motorcycle and so it is kind of off-topic. But having a 1976 Honda CB400F for my first bike was just an absolutely excellent experience.

Yes, I know it's not anything special, but it's been my "affordable dream car" since I was 15. And now I get to daily it!

Actually, I almost am. As a teen I lusted over the Coupe Quattro as an actually realistic dream mobile. I ended up with my A4 Avant. Which will spank a Coupe Quattro anyways
And it's plenty of fun to drive with almost 50/50 distribution being a fat in the arse.![]()

My dream car was the 1996 Impala SS. I wound up getting one with only 42,000 miles in 2000 and it is still in the DD rotation. Around 180,000 miles on it at the moment...

I dreamed of an E39 M5 since 1997 when I first saw an E39. I knew the M5 would be nuts.
Made the sensible purchase and got a 540 6spd instead. So for the last 6 years I've been DD'ing close to my "dream car."

My one and only dream car, like ultimate dream car of wet dream status, is a McLaren F1.
The day I can afford to daily one, is the day you will never see me post on here again because I would never not be on the road.
like, this is beyond true.

I always had a thing for the E36 M3 when I was younger...I had one for about 5 years and it went in and out of daily duties as I bought and sold other stuff.

Was DDing my affordable dream. Then my dream was to buy a nic DD and keep the S for fun times.
Now that I've done those two, not sure what the next dream is. Add a mid engine red targa (NSX or F355), probably, but that's a bit more out of reach.

I had wanted an LS1 F-body since I was 12. Even have a 2000 Firebird promo calendar they used to give out at dealers from my 'get every vehicle brochure for every car I like' obsession I had when i was a kid. 11 years later I finally picked one up. It's loud, raucous, has an interior with more squeaks and rattles than an old shopping cart yet every time I hit an on ramp or I'm out on some windy country roads I'm reminded of exactly why I had such a desire for this car.

I never really dreamed of having a Civic SI in particular... but I love this car to death. I don't really dream of wanting anything different. If I had more money I'd probably just buy it out and mod the piss out of it (its leased)

I don't dream about cars, but I'd say I'm pretty happy with my setup.
Black range and a white 911.
I put about the same amount of miles a year on them, total 10K.

Kind of, I guess? When the TT first came out it was my dream car for awhile. I'm only 10 years late to the party.

I agree that weekend driving is not daily driving, but I think driving 6-8 months every day... to work... to shopping, driving the pets and kids and grandma around, would qualify as a DD. I would drive mine all year round if I had the skills to drive a high torque Rwd around in the snow, but I dont so I store it.

I'm going to take it a step further and say a car qualifies for daily driver status if it is something you could drive each and every day you chose to do so. Why do I say this? Because I own five cars.
By design, there is no way I will ever drive one and only one car each and every day of the year. Still, I can drive any one of them whenever the mood strikes me... and some days I do manage to drive every one of them.![]()
