Has anyone used a generic satellite antenna

Just got a REN w/Sirius and want to try the Sat radio, but dont want to spend another $150 for the stock antenna.

Anyone use one of the magnet puck antennas?

Do you mean the the kind that comes with the Sirius radios that you would add to a car, like a sportster or starmate? I don't think that those radios share the same plug as the OEM radios with Sirius, I thought the antenna had a clip in plug, where the add on radios have what looks like a micro coax connector. Any pics of the back of your new radio? Congrats on the score too!

As long as there is enough space. The Sirius magnetic antenna has a 90 degree plug, but my sirius boombox has a straight plug(not magnetic base). I use the 90 on the boombox sometimes, but you can't even look at it the wrong way or it will fall out. Just keep that in mind. Keep us posted!

Going to give THIS a try. Its a Terk Sirius antenna picture below.

I discovered that FAKRA connectors are color coded to their key. Most time you see the pink ones, my radio and this one have baby **** yellow (official FAKRA color is cury yellow).


Oh yeah - thinking about mounting it inside the rear spoiler. The plastic (or fiberglass) should be an issue for the signal. Or much of an issue anyway.

I will report back how it works.

OK the TERK antenna connector works perfect.

I am thinking about trying to put the antenna under the rear spoiler. Anyone know how to take it off? I tried today, but chickened out.

Did you ever get this installed? I have the same ren radio and was thinking of doing the same thing.

No not yet. Did hook it up to see if it worked with the radio - it did.
