Price Reduced! now $3,800 obo CAR NEEDS TO GO!! Pics on the flickr link below.
Up for sale is my white 1990 Wolfsburg Jetta with a mk3 VR6 swap. I'm asking $4,000 obo. The motor is fully rebuilt, has 12,xxx miles on it, and is completely modified.
The Good (Mods):
2.9 liter bore w/ cast iron pistons
268 Eurospec cams
Stage 3 head components - including titanium valuve retainers, oversized valves, 41mm intake valves, 36mm exhaust valves, high rev valve springs, heavy duty lifters, port and polished head, minor head shaving for higher compression
Balanced, blueprinted, acid dipped block
Momo steering wheel
Momo shift knob
Techtonics 2in ID downpipe
Techtonics 2.5in mid pipe
H&R Racing inch and a half drop
6 puck race clutch
Full polyurethane on suspension and front end
Stage 3 engine mounts
Techtonics chipped to suit mods
Mk3 5 speed trans
Mk3 Gas tank and drivetrain along with mk3 k-frame
Eurospec underdrive pulley
Ported exhaust and intake manifolds
Knife-edged throttle body
Metal crack pipe
Autotech 10lb. flywheel
The engine was rebuilt 12,xxx miles ago with brand new internals with the exception of the rods and crankshaft (crankshaft was balanced) which were shotpeend and inspected for durability. The long block was assembled by Lou of LRB Racing in Franklin, NJ (I'm getting a copy of the build sheet from him), who also did all the port and polishing work.
Essentially during the build of the car anything mk3 that could fit was installed, with the exception of interior as it was originally built to be a sleeper of sorts. The oil was changed religiously, and is currently running 5-30 Royal Purple. The car runs and hauls ass now, but with a better tune you'd see more power.
There's much more - a ton of little things - I just can't think of them. I put at least $8k into the motor. Anyone who knows what they're looking at will be able to tell for themselves.
The Bad:
drivers side window needs a new crank
front valence could use some work
tires will do for now, but could stand to be replaced
standard mk2 wear and tear on the body and paint - no major issues
weather stripping on the car needs to be replaced
missing axle back muffler
working to fix a maf issue and a coolant issue
This is definitely a driver's car; the interior is there, but it's mostly bare essentials (mk2 GTI bucket seats and rear seat). The carpet and all sound deadening materials were stripped. There's no power steering.
I loved this car but it's time to move on. Due to financial issues I don't believe I was ever really able to tap the car's true potential. I'm confident that if someone is willing to put in the time and effort they would have a truly great show or drag car - it's already halfway there, someone just has to make it pretty.

Did you get a hold of the build sheet for the motor?
What kind of engine management?
Was the engine originally OBDI or II, do you have a diagnostic port connected?
Thanks

The motor is ODB2 the engine management is a stock ecu with a techtonics chip burned to the motor spec's. The build sheet i can get at anytime but i havent had any serious interests in the car yet so i havent gone and got it as i work all the time. And at this point as i need the cash im dropping the price down again. No reasonable off will be refused at this point, not looking for trades tho
