My 05 Touareg V8, 18 inch wheels is a wonderful car and only 55K miles. However, age has gotten to things - needs new front rotors and pads, new tie rods, one of 4 catalytic convertors need replacement and new summer tires - about $4,000 of repairs. And who knows when the other convertors will go.

Trade in is only about $15,000.

Trade on a TDI or fix it up?

Anyone drive one of the new TDI's? It has 405 ft-lbs of torque but only 200 ponys.

Thanks for your opinions - it's always a tough decision.

You need to go and test drive the TDI yourself as others like I might like it but you might hate it.

4K repair estimate seems high. 55k leaves a lot of miles on the table. How badly do you want a new car payment?

Your signature indicates a 2011 Passat Wagon TDI?!?! How'd that happen?

Yeah, I didn't think we had those over here, especially in a TDI let alone wagon. At least not yet? Are we supposed to list cars we wish existed after what we own?

Cat convertors have 8yr/80k mile warranty by the way! I am pretty sure on this at least. LOL Worth checking in on.

Yes, VW was happy to pick up the replacement of the rusted convertor under warranty. That saved about $2,000.
