Thread: new-to-me fox wagon

  1. 03-06-2012 09:07 PM #1
wutsup guys..... i recently bought a white 87 fox wagon off my brother as a "fun" car

its in pretty decent shape considering its older than me lol..... very little rust and no major scratches or dents.... clear coat is gone off the top put the paint is in better shape than my 06 camry lmao

he did a lot of stuf to it before i got it..... swapped in a 2.0 engine and a 5 speed and a bunch more stuf i cant remember

ive only drivin it around the block here and there since ive had it b/c i dont have it registered yet but i must say its soooo much fun to drive...... the pickup is awesome and i wish i wouldve goten a manual car a long time ago

sadly though, i went to start it last week and i wont and i think the culprit is the fuel pump ....... looks like a fun job

im by no means a mechanic but i do work in autoparts and ive done quite a bit to my camry so the VW will be a bit of a learning curve but most of the stuf looks pretty simple (except that damn CIS-E injection!!! lol)

anyways i really look foward to my ownership of my new wagon and i cant wait to do a little work on it and of course enjoy driving it

Welcome! Sounds like you got a great score! Nice brother you have. Seems like he took care of it. There are two fuel pumps and from what I have read - they don't seem overly complicated to change. Get yourself a Bentley and be sure to share some photos with us.

The Fox forum is great. A lot of really helpful guys/gals on here. They really go out of their way to get you the answers you are looking for. I've learned a lot over the last 6 months alone.

Good luck with your new whip. It's an obsessive car to get into. A lot of fun indeed.

    Cheers
    Chris

    Wagon. 2L 3A. 5 speed.
    You are almost done.

    Reliability can be largely achieved.
It is a challenge that is rarely boring.

Which 5 speed are you running?
    Pics?

thnx for the welcome!! i took a few pix 2day ill try to upload them when i get a chance

i dont kno what 5 speed it has but i can find out

my brother said the fuel pump in the tank has been replaced before so it looks like ill have to change out the one under the car...... i also noticed a bit of fuel leaking around the square electronic regulator thingy on the fuel distributor so ill havta pop that off when i get a chance...... hopefully its an o-ring or sumthing

heres a few plans i have for it so far......

    recent to do items:
new plugs & wires (probly bosch)
    fuel pump
    fuel filter
    full wash/detail

    future items:
new complete front brakes (pads, rotors, calipers, hoses)
    tires
new headlights (probly some hella knock-off E-codes or cheap ebay ones)
    front & rear shocks
lowering springs if i can find them

i also have boxes and boxes of extra stuff i have yet to go thru so there may be more i will do
