still having nightmares with the downpipe situation. Im so very frustrated. I got the TT one extended a few times by Meineke, but it still didnt fit. So I decided to try and make it all work with the oem mk3 downpipe that I made. Everything was going great, then my welds cracked again.

I found a guy selling TT headers for an ABA swap. So im hoping to pick it up before the weekend. I really wanna take her to Cult Classic this weekend!

    lesson learned:
If your doing an ABA swap, just buy the damn $350 downpipe from TT!!

I could have had this done weeks ago

    Re-painted the fender flares.

Also attempted to polish the center caps. Tried to take a pic that would show the difference:

Gonna try to bring her to Cult Classic!

I took her for a 1/2 hour ride on the highway and she rode really great. My trans was whining a little on the slower roads. Im definitely concerned about this.. The fluid is brand new so I'm hoping it's nothing serious.

Power washed the engine bay today. Polished the rest of the center caps. Realigned the shift linkage. Put the knee bar back in.

    Decided to whore a little

New wheels. MSWs. 15x7 et22. I really think she needs to be a little lower, but after the ABA swap, that oil pan is sitting wayy to low. (hence the 15s)

Unless you ****ed something up, the pan should sit in the exact same place as stock... The aba is taller up top, not at the bottom.

    Update!

Car is great, however, the car would overheat on a hot day sitting in traffic. This is one of the thing I wanted to tackle this winter. So I picked up a Scirocco radiator and an extra slim fan. Pics of my work:

    Current setup(running too hot):

    DSC_0001 by DubLuvTuning, on Flickr

    DSC_0002 by DubLuvTuning, on Flickr

    DSC_0003 by DubLuvTuning, on Flickr

After years of saying I would, I finally bought this tool. SOO glad I did

    DSC_0009 by DubLuvTuning, on Flickr

Here is the difference between the Mk1 rad and the Scirocco rad:

    DSC_0012 by DubLuvTuning, on Flickr

    DSC_0013 by DubLuvTuning, on Flickr

Since I have more space, I added an additional fan. Yes, I realized when I got home that I bought the wrong size fan. So now I have a 12' and a 10' fan. As long as it works, Im happy

    DSC_0016 by DubLuvTuning, on Flickr

Made a new bracket to hold it in place:

    DSC_0017 by DubLuvTuning, on Flickr

    DSC_0019 by DubLuvTuning, on Flickr

Here is the end result. Hopefully there will be plenty of cooling power! Since the Rocco rad comes out on a 45 degree angle, I had to use a Mk2 hose to turn it back into the Mk3 piping. Also replaced the lower rad hose with a Mk2 hose (had a custom one in there before).

Oh, so this is where you hid this thread?

Just read thru. Nice work. Ive seen the fruits (<-Los Bait) just not the labor until now.

FYI, probably too late but that old Rad should work fine with a diy shroud, but larger rad and dual fans obviously works too.

Mine has half the capacity of the stock one and cools just fine since I made a shroud for it.

Thanks Ivan I dont know why, but anytime I was stuck in traffic, she would overheat. Weird I definately agree with you that Im going overboard on the cooling. However, overheating is just something I really dont wanna have to worry about.

Anyways, Im all done with the Scirocco rad swap. While in there, I hooked up my Moroso inline filler. Ive never ran an inline filler on a VW before so this will be a learning experience for me. Pics to come

more than likely just air in the system that was causing the overheat before imo. Its not the first time ive heard that from aba swaps.. It more than likely folks not used to how the ABA likes to be "burped"

You will get used to massaging that top hose soon enough.

What size tires did you have on polished cadtellets? The stretch. I have to get new tires and going back and forth on what I want. Either original 185/60 or bigger or?
