Quick question guys! Having a brain fart due to all this wiring...

I forgot what plugs into the back of the hazard switch. I'm 90% sure it was a ground. It just so happens that I have an extra ground cable as well. Just wanna make sure before I solder a new end. Pics:

    Thanks!

Im just going from the mk1 wiring. I dont have a cabby bentley but Milosz told me you guys did if I can a look at it I can be a much better help. I sent him some diagrams of the mk2 wiring. def need better pix of the color wires. black and white wires are for the left blinkers, red/white is for the constant pwr. Not sure if thats a gray/black wire underneath but if it is that goes to 49a on the turn signal switch. If you take a look at the pins on the switch you will see #'s such as 49a, 30, 49, R, L etc. If you can mark all of those down and post the color wires to them it would be a great help. the one that has no wire on it rt now also has a #/letter near that pin if you post that one I can tell you what goes there. If you could send me copies of the wiring diagrams for the cabby we can make it happen lmk

Thanks man, we will def be in touch. I have a version of the mk1 bentley on my computer. I can email it to you. unfortunately, Milosz and I are not very good at reading the diagrams. We've been using A2 Resource as our bible. We only have a few more of these reandom wires to button up and then I can move on to the fuel pump and engine harness.

I actually just borrowed the cabby bentley from my friend and all ready have a mock up of what needs to be done lol Not sure if you guys are working on the cabby this weekend but I could def stop by and get the wiring going for you. The a2 resource is a great tool. Im more of a visual person and rather see the path w/ the diagrams. I would say to get a mk2 rear harness to save you the hassle of cutting and splicing the rear. And as far as the engine wiring it should be pretty explanatory. I have done it w/ mk3 wiring and its a bit time consuming. Do you have access to a voltmeter b/c that is another tool you should have while messing w/ the wiring.

Yes we are putting all the time we can into it. Almost every weeknight till late. Sunday ill be putting the whole day into it. Milosz might be around Sat, but I have something going on. Of course, your more than welcome to stop by my house whenever you want . Ill PM you my cell. Tonight, im planning on finishing the headers. I think Milosz will work on the engine wiring.

Yes I have a voltmeter. I have the full MK2 interior harness. So once its running, Ill have to start splicing the rear lights etc..

Still working hard on the wiring. bansheelos was nice enought to help me out last weekend. He definately showed me the ropes with the wiring. Super cool guy and I cant thank him enough

So, with his help, the interior wiring is DONE. This week I got the engine harness all plugged up. My only 2 issues left is:

    1) fuel pump wont power
    2) no power getting to the mk1 starter

Still working on this stuff so updates will not be as exciting. Shes super close to starting up.

Pics because nobody likes a pic-less update:

Def had no problem coming out to help ya!!! Cool guy and very knowledgeable already. Sometimes ya get crosseyed from staring at it and need another set of eyes, u wore out milosz set next are mine lol Wanna see this thing running b/c the mk2 in my garage does not want to start. I helped you w/ wiring and you helped me w/ some music choices lol You might wanna try another ignition switch. Its a cheap part and sometimes causes a hell of a headache. As far as wiring I would also do the ecu pin out thats in the mk3 bentley. See that your grounds are good and your ecu is get constant and switched power.

Haha thanks. The wiring looks scary but it's not too bad. I'm definitely learning patience.

I got a mk3 golf last week and the Cabby had to get pushed outside for a few. Hoping to get her back where she belongs by this weekend!

Im proud to say that she is now RUNNING
Took a lot of messing around. Turns out my problem was that I needed to bypass the alarm. Once I did that, she fired right up

    Video:

no exhaust, alternator is jimmy rigged, ****s all bouncing around, but I don't even care. Just so happy!

Much much more work yet to come...

Did a little more work last night. Found a serp belt that works with my setup

A few issue with tail lights. Only have brakes at this point. Someone told me that I need to have the headlight harness plugged in before the back will work Ill give that a try this weekend. Also going to attempt to get the cooling system done. Most likely gonna use the Mk1 radiator with a slim fan setup. Wanna keep it all as clean as possible

your car gave me the idea to use aftermarket door/fender trim molding. Looks so much cleaner like that.

Small update.. Got frustrated with wiring. Still no turn signals. So I made a new fan setup. Give me much more room and looks a million times cleaner

Also jimmy-rigged the mk1 coolant bracket so that I can use the mk3 coolant bubble. Not the prettiest way of doing it, but it's functional for now.

    Alot more done this weekend..

Tucked part of the engine harness up in the rain tray. Also mounted the ECU under the dash.

Mounted the mk2 throttle cable. I'll definitely be using my Passat cover instead of this. Looks linda weird..

Final picture as I left her Sunday night:

Got a bunch more done tonight:

-shift linkage installed. New bushings and all that fun stuff.
-brakes all bled. All new fluid. 100% ready to roll

Last thing to do before she hits the road is bolt up the axels and find a way to mount the battery. I would like to put it in the trunk..

Something cool I thought I'd share:

"Tornado Rot" (German for tornado red, obviously) Original writing on the top of the dash from the factory it was built in. Very cool!

Relocated the batter to the trunk. Used a kit that I found at a local speed shop:

Decided to ground it under the seatbelt bolt.

Still have to mount it down. I will be cleaning up all of my wiring first. Also finished rebuilding the axles last night. I was going to take pics, but that's a pretty messy job so just take my word for it!
