This will probably be my first ghost recon. Never really played GRAW1/2 and this one looks pretty badass and a slight change in pace from the same ol' cod michael bay editions and bf3 too-large-of-a-game-for-consoles![]()

I got a chuckle out of this...
Splinter Cell Conviction users who still own the game will get access through the game main menu.
"who still own the game..."![]()

Then look again, I just clicked and it said "choose your platform Xbox or PS3".
I wanted to run it on my PC.

Yep, I couldn't get it done correctly at work or on my phone. Got home, jumped on my laptop, and it worked perfectly with Chrome. Thanks again!

Just saw an commercial on TV for this...
I thought it was a Modern Warfare ad.. really.
It was presenting in the exact same way as the intro to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare- including the announcer voice (they hired the same guy?).
Hmm. I did like it. (Shrug)
But they are obviously shooting for the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare crowd.

comparing Future Soldier and Modern Warfare isn't fair IMHO. Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six games are always more tactical !

I've been playing the campaign all weekend long with my GF and it's been a lot of fun. We are really liking it. Now the multiplayer is a different story. It seems very sloppy, you can't tell who is on your team. It's a bit frustrating....Also I can't find team deathmatch. If you don't have your gun upgraded you really don't stand a chance, you can shoot them and shoot them but if they have a modified gun all it takes two shots from them and you are dead.
I can't wait to reach level 4 so I can upgrade my gun. The good thing is if you get to kill one of them you can pick up their modified gun and go at it!!!! All in all enjoying the game!

Got it. Pretty disappointed overall. They dropped the ball on about 60% of the things which make a Ghost Recon game.
I also f_cking despise the UPlay nonsense. I wouldn't have even bought the game if I had remembered.
Overall, C+. Nice graphics, good smooth gameplay, excellent guns and sounds --- horrible game design, piss-poor options, no terrorist hunt, no turning off obnoxious HUD elements. I'll run through the campaign, waste a weekend playing the Guerrilla mode with my brother then sell it. Disappointed.

I am disappointed too.
The multiplayer is very odd. The menu fonts and graphics are terrible. The cut scenes are lame. It doesnt have that advanced warfighter feel to it that i love.
Sent from my iPhone 7GS.

My coworker talked this game up so much, made me want to run out and get it at lunch time. Told him I'm still interested in it big time, but Porsche DLC for FM4 + next 2 weekends I'm out doing social stuff all weekend, I wouldn't have enough time to dedicate to it, especially coop. It's bad enough I have friends messaging me last night 'yo get off of Forza and get on Minecraft' lol

I played a bit more earlier.
1) Almost all traces of tactical combat have been removed. The distances, tactics and challenges of the past Ghost Recon franchise games are gone (this started with the whole advanced warfighter nonsense). I have yet to play the campaign, and I'm sure that some missions will highlight "some" tactical elements.
2) The gameplay is still relatively fluid, and the sounds and gun effects are excellent. Gun detail is off on a lot of things, but accurate on many others. You can not do a lot of things which you could in previous games (no changing fire mode ---- though you can buy separate trigger packs when you build guns in multiplayer).
3) The maps are small, and COD-ish. This game is chasing the COD/BF crowd, and abandoning the core of the old TC players. I can't blame them, as TC games have never sold in the numbers of COD/BF.
4) There is no multiplayer which is NOT adversarial. Meaning there is no way to gather or gain points to unlock or build cool guns, and no place to use them...other than adversarial. The days of spending 10 hours playing terrorist hunt with buddies, unlocking guns, gear, camo etc. are gone. This is the biggest hit to me. RSV and older Ghost Recon games let you play co-op style games, and you earned advancement stuff for it.
5) There is a Guerrilla mode available. This is a wave mode. This COULD be great, and probably will be fun, with 4+ maps, and 50 levels per map, with three levels of difficulty. BUT, you don't gain any advancement points, and have no say in your gear or weapons, other than what you scrounge during the game. This would have been 10x cooler if you could integrate it into the multiplayer stuff, unlocking guns and gear along the way - being able to customize your guy.
6) My biggest beef is the inability to turn off gadgetry. In the past warfighter games you could start a room without UAVs, without radar. You could turn on minimal HUD. You could change the game to suit your play style, and to challenge yourself more. The options menu in GR:FS is a few volume settings, a gamma setting, and inverted sticks....that's it. No other options.
7) The menus are horrible, and that's just silly at this stage in gaming - but to be fair, you don't use them too often.
8) UPlay. F_ck UPlay. You get a "passport" with the game, but if you sell it, someone will have to pay $10 to activate the online mode. This of course means you can't rent the game, UNLESS you haven't had UPlay before, and you can activate a free 2-day trial. This also means if I want to sell it to someone, they'll have to pay $10 just to play it online. That's for each game too. If you buy another Ubisoft game...used...another $10 has to be paid to play online. I had forgotten Ubisoft was one of the primary pushers of this bullsh_t. If I had remembered, I wouldn't have purchased this game at all.
I would have said this game is definitely worth a couple guys renting, and beating the campaign and then rocking out on Guerrilla mode for a couple hours ---- but with UPlay, you can't.
I think this would be worth $35 on Steam sometime later in the year or next year...but it's not worth $60. Very disappointed. If you're new to TC games, and have no expectations you may enjoy it.
I was hoping this game would have been the perfect storm, combining the brilliant elements of Rainbow Six Vegas into a Ghost Recon title...nope. They dropped the ball horribly.![]()

I was waiting to read reviews before picking it up, and you confirmed my worst fears about the game. The uplay is most galling. From what I understand it would prevent me from taking the disc to my friends house and playing online there. Unacceptable. Thanks for saving me 60 bucks. I never played the rainbow six games, so maybe ill grab one of those instead.

Like I said before the multiplayer is not very good, like some of you commented they went away from the original feel of GR 1 & 2. But the campaign is fun as hell, my GF and I are having a blast playing it.![]()

Again, I'd love to say "Rent it, definitely worth it!" but not with UPlay. And yes, you can't take the game to a friends house and play certain parts. Now I activated the UPlay up front, and I'm not sure what it opens up. I know it grants access to multiplayer.
I "think" you could play the campaign at someone's house. Not entirely sure, but yes UPlay is stupid as hell.
If you're looking for a serious time-waster, get RSV2 and get some buddies to play Terrorist hunt. One of the best tactical shooting modes ever. You can spend freakin' HOURS doing that. I'm hoping Guerrilla mode can match up to that - have my doubts.

Well, I think it's one of the UPlay unlocked modes (along with multiplayer).
It's up to four players...and it appears you can actually play two players on your console, and invite up to two players from Xbox live to join you. I've only played by myself.
It's a modified version of the usual Horde/Wave mode in other games. There are three difficulty levels, and 50 waves per map (of which there are four, with a fifth which says you can unlock it with UPlay?).
You start out in a stealth wave, meaning you have to eliminated X number of bad guys, then take control of the "HQ" which is a lit location. When you take the HQ, the first real wave begins. You receive weapon crates, and reload crates each round --- and a 45 second time window. I've only made it to Level 5 by myself.
Each wave is progressively harder, more guys - more skilled guys, and with better guns. You defend the HQ. Apparently every 10 rounds, the HQ will move, so you'll have another "stealth" wave, where you're supposed to go and seek the next HQ. It looks like it could be a load of fun - but Horde/Wave modes often get so hectic and stressful, I don't know how long you could sit and play it.
You can grab guns from dead bodies, and you don't even have to be in the HQ...you just have to defend it. I imagine if you played with several people you could pick all manner of excellent hiding spots. You unlock wave bonuses in the form of radar, airstrikes etc. I haven't used them yet.
I think split-screen or with some buddies it could be a lot of fun. The nice thing about it, is that it saves your "Level", and you have the option to restart the Level you died on...meaning you don't have to start from Level 1 every freakin' time. It saves your highest achieved level too, so if you log in the next day, you can start at Level X, where you stopped. This sounds good to me, because I'd imagine on the hardest difficulty, Level 50 is probably feckin' impossible.![]()
