I just want to start this off with a BIG THANK YOU to Vortex & everyone who has bought my parts and sold me parts as well, and also to the peeps who helped answer my noob like questions along the way. Here's to you If I never would have came on this site i wouldnt even be close to where I would want to be with my corrado. (or near as broke) All of my parts and including my car have been bought through here. including all the parts I had from my g60 have been sold here. thank you 1 more time to the honest people on here making great, smooth transactions

So i bought my first corrado along time ago I was 17 and had no clue what a Corrado was til i laid eyes on it. It was a 91 g60 automatic the thing was a nightmare the whole time I had it and dropped a lot of $$ into it just to try to keep it alive. I crawled through the hatch to open my doors for about 2 years that i owned it Out of the 12 years i owned it, it drove a total of 6 off and on. it sat for the last 5years. I was putting together slowely all the things needed to do a 5 speed swap. once i had everything in place to do so I realized I'd be better off selling everything and buying a vr6 So Januaruy of 2011 I sold the g60 for $1200 and wished the next guy the best of luck. he also had another g60 he just got done bringing back to life, so i was happy it was going to a good home.

Less than 4 months later in April 2011 I bought a 1993 Vr6 from a guy up in Vermont. i paid $4500 and about $700 to get her shipped down here. Do to getting married to my loving, "understanding" wife she let me buy it, but I had no time to really do anything to it. So i just started buying things i knew it needed and things i knew i wanted I did kinda rush into getting another one, but i felt like this was the one, and it had to be NOW or NEVER. After buying my new C and lurking around this forum for over a year now i know a lil better. but now it's too late and i my car unconditionly!!!!!
So my car was in need of some very minor tlc. the interior is just about flawless and the motor seems to be very strong at 138k on the clock. it could use a respray eventually. Things that need to be replaced are the alternator, serpentine belt, front axle, inner/outter tierod assembly, front/back brakes calipers, carriers rotors, ebrake cable, swaybar links, headlights, fog lights, turns, basically the whole front bumper, and now the door handles.
Ive bought so many parts just to end up reselling them for some thing better that i wanted. i ended up buying 3 sets of fogs and reslling them when i found a pair of french fogs and i first went out and bought a set of lowering spring which i later sold to buy Koni coilovers when they had that christmas special. but in the end everything i bought and have for my car just waiting to put it in place.
This is the base of my story pics and more will follow. this thread for me is way over due. I came on here and never really introduced my self til now, ohh yeah btw my name is Tony I just needed to get some stuff started on my car to feel comfortable enough to start this thread. dont worry pics are coming. so far last week i got it into a buddies garage and had all the tools needed. needless to say im not much of a mechanic my self but im definetly not afraid to get my hands dirty. last week I replaced my alternator and all of my lights upfront. replacing my fogs with 3k hid's and my TK modded headlights with 5k hid's

Now comes a lil fun and not to mention great seller ratings! Parts I've bought from Vortex and who I've dealt with and helped me along the way!

thank you, the interior was one of the main things that turned me on to this car this weekend i hope to install Brakes, calipers/carriers and rotors all around. replace my axle and whole tie rod assembly. along with installing my coil overs. i think im gonna keep the speedlines on til i see how bad the camber is. but til then here's a teaser of "my free wheels" that i'm gonna rock in due time. Whats that you say? how'd i get them free lets just say thank you to fed ex

thank you too!! yeah the old headlights were busted along with the fogs and turns. But i do like it now that everything is replaced. i just have to figure out why my headlights wont switch to hi or lo beam it only stays on one beam. I'm working on trouble shooting it now, but i think im gonna have to rip it all out and wire it back up from the begining and go from there.

RS's look good - I think 8x16'' is the perfect size for the Corrado

Love the name of the thread. Glad you finally made a post bud. Looks like you took my advice on the HID setups, exactly the same as I'm running. Car is looking great keep up the good work and I'm definetly subscribed. And also looking forward to the wheel story, sounds like a "cool story bro." Haha

Yep! Jon is a good guy. Communicated very well through out the whole process. There was a couple things he might have left out but not to big. Just didn't have anytime last year to get anything done.

Thanks for the good words bro. The hid's I'm still working on. For some reason they aren't switching over from lo to high but I'm sure that will get sorted out soon enough. I have some plans in the near future but 1st things 1st. All new suspension and brakes then I definetly want to do the b4 moonroof swap. My sunroof motor is on the fritz anyways. As for the wheels, I'll try to get to that a lil later tonight. I was thing "cool story bro" would of been a great thread title too I just wanted a good catchy thread title. A Corrado is always a Never Ending Story

p.s. when installing the hid's in the fogs I ended up removing the silver piece in there to get the long bulbs to fit. I got to a point where there was no turning back. Then just removed it all together wasnt to happy about that but we did what ever it took to get er done.

it feels like I have been waiting for this day for a long time. I had some parts building up in my haus and it was finally time to get er done. My good friend Mason (mustang guy) works at Haldeman and we were waiting to get it in on a Saturday and bang out the suspension and brakes al around.
and moar parts we just had a huge pile lined up with new fresh parts to put on. The list for the day involved replacing left and right axle, inner and outer tie rod assembly new control arms with r32 bushings, new rotors, calipers, carriers, and brakes. Ohh and i almost forgot my new fresh Koni coilovers @ 1st the reason I bought these control arms with the bushings was so i could get them powder coated. Then on judgement day I could just swap and save time. In the end I didnt get the arms powder coated but it was still good i got them cause the old control arms were damaged on the left side. this car was for sure hit something and damaged some things in the lower front part of the car. I did realize most of the damage last week when I had removed the bumper and tried to bend back "half fast" for now part of bracket that helps support the bottom of the bumper. also like i said the control arm was all banged up tie rod assembly was shot as well with the axle. The bushings were toast! here is New and old

Here's my buddy torching we needed the torch pretty often through out the day to help loosen up some bolts. Everything did go pretty smooth til right at the end installing the calipers. ll get to that in a lil bit. but first some pics
Just getting started Then installed new axle and tie rod assembly, moved on to the coil overs

front stock rotors (for now) i already had them. now that the rears are on I'm itching to change the front again to match.
Beautiful ATE rear slotted rotors. While everything was off and in the works we realized I need to replace my left rear spindle sooner then later.
Then it was lunch time. No beer yet but didn't forget to add the BACON on the hawaiian pizza

After lunch we were in the middle of finishing installing the brakes. when trying to put on the mk4 rear calipers we ran into a small problem. where the banjo line connects to the caliper, it was hitting the trailing arm. We were running out of time the shop was gonna close up at a certain time and we had to get out. knowing that we had to adjust the coils do a alignment and mount and balance 2 tires on the speedlines we had to skip the mk4 rear caliper mod til a lil later. but here is where it was hitting.

The white out represents what needs to get grinded down. We started the one side and almost had it on, but like i said we were just running out of time.

here it is when we first set it down to see how it sat. By this time we literally had like a 1/2 hr. till we were gonna get the boot outta the shop. so we put it back up raised the front 1" and did a "eye alignment" just to get out of there before the doors were locked.

Then took her out for a couple quick pics today!!!

I really cant wait to finish up all the lil things that are left. Til then she will stay as a pretty driveway ornament

The ride home saturday was incredible so smooth compared to the way it was handling before. I'm sure the car feels as relieved as me now that all that necessary suspension work. All I know is the progress feels great. More parts will be ordered and hopefully this thing will be just about 100% around the end of the month. Probably won't get anything next week do to my national holiday this saturday.

So now that i have some time on my hands I can explain a lil bit how I managed to get these beautiful played ass rims for free Here's how it happened.

I bought these wheels off a good guy down in VA. We were gonna meet uo right after thanksgiving to make the deal in person. the more we talked we realized it would be just as much in gas and time to meet up then it would be just to ship them. So he tells me $1600 shipped via paypal.I says no problem. I was looking for wheels for quite sometime and had a hard time making my mind up on which direction I wanted to go in. I actually inquired about these wheels a month prior or so when he first posted them. So I was pretty lucky they were still for sale when I bought them. They are actually 5x100 so no spacers are needed. I can deal with the freshly painted gold centers for a lil while. eventually i'd like to go black with gold bolts or all silver But either way. I thought these rims were a steal so I went for it and had them shipped here.
Needless to say I was waiting all day and had been tracking them the past 3 days. I knew I had to be home to sign for them because of the value of the package. well the day they were supposed to show up I waited til 2 pm and had to leave for work. My wife was home til 4 but they never showed up I ended up getting a email at 10pm saying that it was confirmed delivery and signed for I didnt understand since nobody was home. Then i find out my neighbor signed for me. Which was great he did, since he saved me another day of waiting and hassle. I'm not sure if it was the fed ex delivery guy or my neighbor that put the 2 boxes on my porch. I'm also not sure if the damaged happened there or in the truck on the way since it was in the back of the truck on the bottom of everyone elses packages. but either way I open the boxes (2 rims per box) with lots of extra protection around the lips and between the wheels. I have to try and dig up the pics but the one box you could see was dirty on the side. So i think what happened was when the truck was in motion the one pair of wheels kept rolling back and forth and rubbing together. eventually the padding started to rip and tear and the lips started to rub. there was also a lil tear in the box where the lip met together. so i took pics and sent a email to the guy I purchased them off of and asked if this is how they looked before he shipped them out. He wasn't to happy to see the way they looked, though it really wasn't to bad. It was still bad enough not to be happy. So we filed a claim and sent some pics to fed ex. About a month later

in the end i guess they werent exactly free but....... I paid like $55.86

After that I pulled the wheels up and cleaned them up a bit. they came out really nice and gave them some character so i decided to let them be. So if anybody ever notices it and asks about the lil bit of nicks on the lips i can then explain that, thats the reason they only cost me $56 After I got the check and cashed it in, it ended up paying for my coilovers and a year supply of bacon

just got some things in the mail today nothing major but I hope to install soon, along with finishing up some small fine tuning on things i already did. Mainly still trying to figure out why my bi-xenon kit isn't switching over from high to low but with a diagram i've been looking at gave me some ideas of what I might have missed. So if time allows me to give the wiring a look tomorrow before work Ill be super happy I either missed something to hook up or I was sent the wrong harness While I'm in there checking out what ever is going on with the hid's I'm going to install these led's I got for my parking lights

Yeah I got pretty lucky I pm'd the guy I bought them off of to see if he still had the pics I sent him of the damage so I could post it. If he doesn't I'll take a close up of them now and you can see what happened.

As for the strikers, I did get the adjustable ones. It only made sense after you guys explained that if I got the others there might still be some play in the handle. Homie don't play like that looks like they will be fun to install

Thanks for positive feedback! Not dropped in the rear at all. I have to replace my rear spindle on the driver side and finish up some grinding to fit the mk4 rear calipers on. Then give her a proper alignment and see how low she will go
