    is this the actual micro-switch that powers the trunk light or is it a different piece?

    and is there any way to fix a micro-switch, or,
    do you just have to buy a new one if anyone
    knows of anyone could post some pics on how
    to fix or just tell me it'd be greatly appreciated.

    Yes that microswitch can be repaired. When I bought my passat, found out that the light wasn't working and I figured that one of the microswitch solders was broken due to numerous shocks when we close the trunk. So just take a soldering iron, resold the contact, and your'e done.

    I had to replace minewhen my '98 was about 3 years old IIRC, seems like it was $13 or so and in stock (!) @ $tealer. FYI, YMMV, HTH, EIEIO
