My friends give me guff all the time for having a buttload of music, almost half of which I don't even like. I like to think I'm prepared in the event someone says "Hey, do you have that song by ______?" "Why yes, yes I do."
Currently my iTunes is 41,624 songs, and about the only genre that hasn't been touched is christian rock (unless you count POD). It's constantly growing as I soundhound the college radio stations and hear about new bands from obscure websites. To be honest I don't think it'll ever stop growing.
So how big is yours?

nah, not punishment. For some reason I want to be prepared in the event someone at a party requests a song. The more obscure the better.
I've realized just how anal I am about my music library. All the album artwork needs to be there, no feat._____ in the artist column, no lower case songs names etc. I think I have a complex.
I just downloaded 1.4GB of Mohammad Rafi all because of this commercial....

Somewhere between 400 and 450gb. Still have my very first .mp3 with date modified in 1996![]()

2035 Songs and growing every day.
Does it count if I have a Zune pass? Lol. (Unlimited music but you don't own it, you lose it if you cancel the membership. Only 10 a month.)

I had some where around 300g, but recently I deleted a bunch of **** that I never listen to. So it's probably about half of that.

I have just under 600 gigs. Roughly 200,000 songs of various file sizes. I Still need to add a dub step folder, and get the newest music available. But I'm near the limit of my hard drive so an upgrade is necessary to continue. What is the largest drive I can buy now?

Stopped collecting around ~240GB. Once I started streaming more, the less I downloaded. Spotify has pretty much stopped me from downloading all but the albums I can't find on there.

Always adding to that tho, I try to download an album a day or so.

That is a lot... I have about 60GB of MP3/WMA, mostly that I ripped from my own CD's.
Does anyone wanna swap?![]()
I was thinking of sending my external-HD around, sharing, and adding music to it, as it get's passed around.
Speaking of passing around, does anyone have "Don't Bogart That Joint", by Little Feat?
That's the one song the decided to cut, to get http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waiting_for_Columbus to fit on one CD.
Bastards!!!
I usually don't like live albums, but this is pretty good.
My collection is pretty varied, from 2 Live to ZZ Top... A lot of '70, 80's rock, Metallica up to and including the black album, a lot of '90's rap, reggae, classical, alternative, but no country, and no christian rock.

All songs in lossless format.....no illegal downloads, all paid for.
I'm proud of that.

^ pretty much. I've worked in music for almost 15 years and keep one of everything we put out. Plus, weekly my buddies would send over a care package of their stuff, we used to trade a lot but it has really tapered off. I got some doubles, some singles, probably 500 LPs, but mostly it is just one of everything on CD from the last decade and a half.
I organized it like this:
Upstairs = the permanent collection. This is stuff I want to have on hand, stuff I listen to regularly, stuff I want to show off, and all of my favorite bands. I don't want to have to look for it, but rather I want to be able to easily find it and put it on at a moment's notice. All are in alphabetical order by artist.
Office = stuff I want to keep and find if I need it, but it is mostly a collection (not stuff that I regularly listen to). For instance, I like the Chemical Brothers and have their studio albums in the permanent collection, but god damn I also have about 25 CD singles and EPs of theirs that I like owning but don't need taking up real estate. plus, when the hell will I put those on? I have every Oasis album (who are just okay in my book) but I only keep maybe 3 upstairs and the rest in my office.
Basement = everything else (CD singles, bands that never made it, advance albums in paper sleeves, etc.) unsorted, loaded into different sized boxes and piled in the garage, in the utility room, and in the basement where the cats pee on the boxes.

Close to 2000 records and 45s ranging from bluenotes, japanese pressed stuff, funk, soul, classic hiphop, downtempo, house, dancehall, popular, spoken word, comedy, etc. Thanks to serato now I have close to 350g on my external. All backed up of course. Cd collection is pretty large too. Roughly 15 record crates of cds. Oh and tapes as in cassette tapes....haha. ALOT. I use to collect and trade scratch/hiphop mixtapes throughout the 90s. Plus my 80s punk collection is mostly on tape as this was a time before cds. Addiction. But I've been a dj for like 16 years so if you take that into account, the collection isn't as big as most in similar circumstances.

You're doing record store day at Exclusive? Very cool. I always wanted to do that but everything i'd do would be original breaks and the artist that sampled that. Thats fun to me. Yup, Dieselboy tomorrow but my band plays before that show at Highland Howies. Then I have to hustle down to the venue to play before Dieselboy. Probably going to play **** like Nosaj Thing, GLK, Harmonic 313, A.R.E. Weapons, Prefuse, Omega Watts, The breeders, Bonobo, Glitch Mob, Gangstarr, and Etc. I dunno. I been so busy getting the 16v ready that I haven't even paid much attention to music.![]()
