I'm getting water in the driver's side footwell on my new (to me) 09 SE. I have the VW Cerified used Warranty so it's off to the dealer tomorrow. I had a similar problem with water in the rear cargo area, which was traced to the sunroof drain(s) being disconnected. Is water in the front also an indication of sunroof problems or is it likely coming in the door?

    Thanks,
Anyone have a VAGCOM in the Indianapolis area??

    Thanks,
Most likely the sunroof. Pretty common problem on earlier model Tiguan's.

Had the same problem, its the water drains from the sunroof, they get clogged and then the tube seperates from catch and lets it in the car threw the a-pillar.

OK....just heard from the dealer. He said they used a hose to run water over the car and were not able to duplicate the problem grrrr. All sunroof drains are functioning...according to him. I guess I just have to wait until it rains again. He actually asked if I left the window down....Seriously...

I can only give you my experience with my former 92 Corrado. Occasionally after a car wash I would have water all in the passenger footwell. There was a water runoff "trough" in the engine bay where the fenders butted up with the rain tray. It would get clogged with debris and the water would not drain/run off properly and it ended up in the passenger footwell. I doubt this is the problem with the tiguan since it is about 20 years newer. But you never know.

See where the leaves are in the top left corner of this picture?

Tell him to do his research. The panoramic roof clogged drain problem has been so prevalent that it would be hard to miss if he simply Google'd it.

In any case, the guy sounds like an idiot for asking if you left your window open.

To make sure your drains aren't clogged in the future, you could follow these steps to make sure you don't have the problem again: http://www.ehow.com/how_5027440_clea...-plugs-vw.html
