Also, I forgot about adjusting my 3D model....the 3.2L crank actually came out larger than the 3.6L crank by .10mm when you plug in the numbers. Not the other way around.

Hmmm that is an option. Let me know what you find out about custom rod length, I know a manufacture that can make h and/or I beam forged rods. Just need blue print or specs. I am assuming your talking about a shorter rod length in the center, Seems simple, get me specs on rod length and I'll get pricing on rods. Other than that, I can usually get forged h beam rod sets for around 180.00 plus shipping which is usually 100.00 bucks. Same supplier many of the known brands purchase from.
Edit* that price does not include arp hardware

Yes, based on published numbers...offset, V angle, and stroke. I believe the published stroke numbers are rounded off after doing the math. I tried making the crank stroke the same on both the 3.2L and 3.6L, but the numbers didn't round off correctly.
I asked Eurospec if they would sell the 100mm crank they claim to use. They replied "not at this time".

How about contacting ABT with regards to their crank specs? I can get any crank manufactured as long as I have the blueprint

The ABT crank is only a 95.6mm stroke.![]()

I'm talking to the manufacture right now, just gave them the part number and they are checking to see if they have the blueprint and if they do, they are willing to either manufacture it with Abt stroke or sell a raw crankshaft!

If you're going to do it, why not go bigger? ...doesn't make sense to do anything the same or smaller than a 3.2L crank.

I'm not sure what to do lol I'm just checking to see if I can intact have a crank manufactured. If its possible and cost effective it can open doors for many of us![]()

Pretty sure there are numerous shops that will make a custom crank....just going to be stupid money most likely. That's why it would only be worth it to go "big". Although it's still a 12V...which is limited by the head.

I agree but their prices are between 300-500 per crankshaft. Granted shipping will be very expensive. The company is Osvat/Queen and believe it or not, their manufacturing plant is in China.
I'm leaning toward your idea of having rods manufactured to fit the crank and if you can verify that the 3.6 can be use, I'm game to go that route.

3.6L crank can most definitely be used...check my build thread.
I would personally use a 3.2L crank only because they are more common, not to mention .10mm more crank stroke.
But that being said...need_a_VR6 broke two or three R32 cranks, so I'm not convinced it's a better crank. The 3.2L is forged, the 3.6L is cast.

Nice work. Get the rest of the wheels to turn out like that, and it will be awesome.
Also, try some grease-less polishing compound, @400 grit with a good wheel, it would make easy work out of anything you need to shine up.
#123
Thanks bro. I'm having a hard time getting the cloudiness out after polishing and it's bothering the **** out of me.
So you think the wheel turned out ok? Painted and polished myself, slight bend on the lip but beggars can't be choosers

Having seen what 400 grease-less compound does, yeah should make cake work of the remaining wheels. They make a compound up to 20,000 grit so how shiny and deep you want it is up to you and how good the wheel you use is.

well if you leave it bare (no coating) then it will oxidize again and you will have to keep polishing it. If you clear it or use a protective product (por15 has one) then there would be less upkeep.

The car is lookin pretty nice manI would love to have a rado. I do have to say that I am no fan of polished and painted manifolds, one or the other IMO!
#140
Thank you! I appreciate all comments, most aren't a fan of the polished/painted look and I can understand. Buy I'm gonna try and pull it of lol. Besides its a temporary manifold until I get the vsr. I've missed out on two so far, one went over my max bid of 1500 and the other ended in the middle of the night and I lost it for 1300.00 but I'll get one eventually!
My hood arrived from vw today! Might stay at work, they are trying to convince me not to leave but lately, I've been wanting to bury a 24mm wrench in some customers chests
Next up is a brand new bumper, go big or go home in 2012, VolkStreet represent lol
