My GF needs her auxiliary pump replaced and the dealer is charging $250 for a new one, so I'd rather buy one from parts4vw or mjm.

Is this the right one for her 97 passat vr6 wagon?

From looking online I see a gold one and that silver one, both have different part numbers.
Any help or info would be great.
    Thanks!

No she doesn't. All she needs is a 3-inch plastic elbow, or a piece of hose, to bypass it.

Hey Izzo...Im having issues with mine as well. I saw that i could bypass it and bought all the pieces, however online in some of these threads Im finding that it could cause engine warping later on and what not. Your opinion on this?

The aux water pump cools the engine after driving.
As long as you let the engine idle for a few minutes before shutting it down after spirited driving, you should be good.

Ok cool, I like the "spirited driving" term. There really is no just going from Point A to Point B in the VR is there?
