Thread: B4 Passat, Retrofiting DE lenses too a stock headlight?

  1. 03-11-2012 05:41 PM #1
*originally posted this in the tech / lighting section, but thought I'd give it a go here as well*

    Hey,

So, I've been looking through most of the topics that had to do with B4 lighting, headlamp/lights and such, cause I once fell upon a threat (haven't found it in my search) were people where talking about how to retrofit DE lenses into a stock/OEM headlight. I've found a few pictures along the way too support the fact that someone has already done it, and I'm dying (not literally) to find any information about doing this.
I've looked around for headlamps that where already modded, but either there is non, or they are some horrible after-marked version.
Here are some pic I've found to show your the thing I want to make here. (I do not own any images or claim too do so)

(Had the idea, that the first two above pic are actually OEM B4 headlights with some other headlight innards, but no info can confirm my theory. Found one on a Japanese site who sold one that looked like them but the sites didn't exist once it got of ebay. Some say they are OEM American headlights, but no search has confirmed this.
The first two from the top, looks to be of polish cars, but no search has gotten me closer in that direction either.
I noticed that the two different set of pictures don't have the same headlights (the polish have one kind and the stand alone headlight has one.)

I've written to some of the users that posted there's pic in another thread, but either no reply or no luck.
At home I have a set of old Hella stock headlamps and a pair of FK Angeleyes (not with DE lenses, but with clear glass covers. Which I would use once I have the DE lenses installed since the stock covers are all full of moulded lines to reflect the light better or something, and don't want to bother with trying to sand them away.

Might just be that I'm rather unlucky in my search and the answer is simple, BUT, any help would be appreciated. Cause I really, really, really, want DE lenses on my B4 And I would prefer it if you'd send me a PM, cause I don't get here very often and I get a little email when I get a PM.

P.S. I'm Danish any my English sucks, so don't post stuff about bad grama or spelling please

I just bought their Morimoto H1 projectors to retrofit into my stock US headlights. I want the amber turns back. Right now I have Hella DE with a H1 55w 6000k kit... I'm interested to see the difference in output between the two, especially since I don't know how the beam is gonna look on the US lights with the fluted lenses. I wish I knew of someone to make some clear plastic ones.

    mhmmm VR5.
The VW community is the only group of enthusiasts around that share a genuine desire to be connected and express their enthusiasm with complete strangers who share nothing more then a common passion for our cars.

Keep us posted with a build tread when you receive your kit. Also is there enough space to retrofit projectors into the fogs as well? If there is we just need to find a clear lens.
