Not forensic but I usually just write 0's to the drive with GWScan or one of the many tools on UBCD and then bash it with a hammer![]()

I have a customer who 0's out their drives then takes them to the range and puts a few bullets in them.![]()

I've used DBAN when wiping a computer (say for lease return) but Eraser is super handy for external drives which is what I'm mostly wiping these days.

Another Darik's Boot and Nuke (DBAN) user/fan.
DBAN can be configured to automatically wipe every hard disk that it sees on a system, making it very useful for unattended data destruction scenarios.

Just did something similar last week. Had about 12 to 15 old hard drives taken from various work computers and laptops of the last 20 years. Spent about 10 minutes with a big ball peen hammer beating the platters to death. Except for a couple of old 5 1/4" hard drives. I disassembled those and removed the platters altogether. Those big, thick old platters are pretty cool.

I use "Disk Doctor's Data Sanitizer" (the trial version). The full version unlocks more advanced wiping algorithms. It works and is easy to use so I haven't looked elsewhere.
