Thread: Old to new timing chain setup

  1. 03-14-2012 03:02 PM #1
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone had any insight on if I could switch my VR which has the dual row upper chains to the newer single chain set up.

I figured I could change cam gears as well as intermediate shaft gears to the single chain set up. I want to be sure though

yes you can switch to the single row type if you change the cam gears and inter shaft.

Correct, you can also keep the double row chains and simply use the newer style tensioner pin, rails, and guides. Most of the timing chian kits from MJM, FST, and ECS all use the later style chain tensioners whether it's for single or double row chains.

My 2.9L BVH build and the machine shop #%@- up that almost ruined it all.
