hey! So I acquired an 84 rabbit convertible. The problem is it sat for 7 years with the parking brake on and was never started. lucky me...

I threw a fresh battery in and tried starting her and of course I got nothing. Sprayed some starter fluid into the the intake and got her to spin but stalls out.

Seems like the fuel injection system is shot, but it could be a bunch of other things.
So I'm wondering besides draining the fuel tank, replacing the fuel pumps, and if I pull off the fuel distributor maybe soak it in kerosene to loosen it up it will start or maybe I should just replace it.

I found a setup on here for an 83 gti. is it the same engine? same setup? I don't want to spend the money if it won't just bolt on and go.

who knows, I haven't even tested it that much. but I'm thinking the the system is shot.

any advice or heckling is appreciated.
