You're on a mission. You've accepted it by clicking this thread.

    The goal:

    E46 of some sort (323iT, 325iT)
    Manual transmission
Sport package <-- this would be nice
Somewhere in the CONUS (West coast pereferred)
Salvage title will be considered (hell, who am I kidding, I'll take it over a clean title car !)
    Under $10k? Good
    Under $7k? Great!
Under $6k? Oh, yes, I love you! Yes! Yeeessssssssssss!!!

I've looked around online but have found nothin'. So, TCL, this isn't about what I can do for you. It's about what YOU can do for me. So, do it already.

    Rule #1:

    But really, though...

Good luck. From my research only about 1200 e46 tourings were brought over. Out of those about 300 were manuals and adding the sport package has to take the numbers down to 200 or less.

I love mine but it isn't for sale. A manual swap isn't difficult.

Yes a lot of people tend to do the manual swap.

I did a broad search with basically no results....

Just under 10k, xi wagon, but in Minnesota... clean as hell though

    I forgot, no AWD.

I just found one in Texas. High miles but $6,500 and looks very clean. Hopefully it's still around.

I know the manual swaps are relatively simple but I have no time/space to do one...

It's on auction pre-sale; no buy it now listed.

How about a high mileage E39 528i Auto wagon? Half the price of your bottom; clean title, no paint work ever. Cold air! (Jrod is going to look at an 01 540i wagon tomorrow)

I've talked to him before and he wanted my E30 M3 plus $8k in trade. He wants $20k for that wagon.

That sounds a bit more realistic. How did he manage to fit M3's rear axel though ? Isn't that a bit wide for a standard e46 ?

Otherwise, I am starting to get naughty thoughts....

Which he might get if it were significantly cleaner. As it sits it looks like the typical young-enthusiast owned vehicle that has been thrashed and has a bunch of little things wrong.

50 pictures of every angle of the outside (most from 10 feet) and no pictures of the brakes or suspension, and 1 blurry picture of the underside. It's a $10-12k car as presented.

In to see what you end up with though.

You read him all wrong. He's an adult enthusiast with several very clean M-cars. The wagon is done very well.

Just stating what the ad looks like. Adults can present their vehicles poorly as well.

Last time I saw his other classified ad, he wanted more than $20k. Closer to $25k, iirc. Some dumbass had won the auction for $17-18k, iirc, and then the seller didn't follow through with it. I was in the market and would have bought it for his eBay price, but he was adamant he wanted a lot more.

very true. I talked to Mike via email late last year regarding his 323i touring. A few of his stable mates were a Dakar Yellow E36 M3/4/5 and a Laguna Seca Blue M Coupe. It has high mileage, but was well taken care of and the swap was 100% professional (done on the east coast if I'm not mistaken). He's so confident in the work that he was willing to take it to an extremely reputable shop at my request (think porsche race team in orange county) to get a full inspection done before even coming down to look at.

    Even at $20 - $25k I'd still say its a score.

And if you want something rare, look for an 04 325iT SMG - there was a Red/Natural Brown one w/ full factory M-Technik kit on ebay around the same time. After a search, I found the same car for sale by the previous owner w/ less mileage for LESS money but the dealer wouldnt budge. The combination is so rare I've never seen or heard of another one...

Why not get a sedan or coupe e46. You will be able to find a 330 5 spd for the same price as a 325it.

I considered an S54 swap but once you are finished you will have a 15mpg car with 330hp and you have to do valve adjustments. If I were willing to take that kind of mileage hit I think I would go whole hog and swap in a S62 V8 from the M5 with 400hp.

I decided against both and I'll be supercharging my stock M54, it is cheaper, less work, and the mileage won't suffer as much.

I'd rather stab myself in the face with a rusty dagger than own an E46 with an SMG.

    x2

Rare doesn't negate suck and there is no way that car is worth 20k.

truly a rare beast; i casually looked for a few months, and didn't really come across any. i'm surprised at the number of them posted here... 3, 4, or 5 nationally is a lot.

and i got very tired of seeing MANUAL listed, when in pics it was obviously an AUTO 5-speed (like exampled here).

good luck Vad; if i see one i'll letcha know!
