Thread: Official Firearm Dope Shiz

  1. 03-18-2012 04:45 AM #1
So, with every other sub-forum having a dope shiz thread --- why not the OT? Since this thread is about 90% firearms enthusiasts, this'll be a Firearm Dope Shiz thread. Keep privately owned stuff in the official firearms post...and keep this one full of dream guns, prototypes, and one-offs....anything that raises your blood pressure.

One of the photographers over on LWRC took some nice shots of this custom one-off LWRC rifle. 14.7" barrel, fluted, ambi-lower, custom upper, ODG Cerakote, etc.

And his custom-coloured M6-IC rifle. I don't own an AR anymore (other than a lower), probably never will, but if I did...LWRC still has the gun porn on lock.

My own ideal rifle...heaven. AK-105. Proper 12.5" barrel, folding stock --- particularly the massaged model up top. Simply fantastic.

The things people are doing with combat handguns are simply awesome. I've been following guns like this for a while, and there are a lot of companies making "fighting" handguns.

PS: If a mod wants to modify the thread title so that it actually says "Firearm" I wouldn't mind Always a bad idea starting threads in the middle of the night...

im in the process of getting my glock 19 gen4 milled to mount a Trijicon RM-07, adding suppressor height sights as well...already got a Dale Fricke seraphim holster waiting for it

Who's doing the work - Mark Housel? I had my PPQ sent off to him, but the work was going to be a lot more than just a Glock worth of work, so I passed for now. I really really wanted it --- but reality set in, when I realized the cost I was putting into something I probably can't make use of just yet...maybe in the future.

yep, L&M precision, found out he does or did the one source tactical slides...I have a PPQ too i remember asking you on your PPQ thread how to mount an RMR on the tapered PPQ slide, doesn't look like it would work. On the sight issue with the PPQ Im waiting for XS big dots for it, the P99 ones will fit but wont be point of aim. they said they will have a set specific for the PPQ in about 2 months.

I am torn between the SCAR and the LMT MWS.

  10. 03-18-2012 09:27 PM #10
If you ignore the fact that magazines are tough to find for the SCAR-17...from everything I've read, the SCAR is the best 7.62 combat carbine you can buy --- if you're looking for long distance accuracy, perhaps consider the LMT.

I can't find a decent image of his rifle, but I know the current issue of The Book of the AR15 has a nice article work up. Larue light weight build for fast shooting.

Don't think I am going to make the line for this rifle. But the regular production version should be ok with me.

    How about the PredatOBR?

I keep reading good things about all of them, but all online reviews have owner's bias. I wish they would stick to facts and not just pride.

    RE: OBR

Everything LaRue makes is damn near solid gold...but again, if I was going for a long shooting accurayc based rifle, I'd consider the OBR --- but for a mobile, small carbine (in 7.62x51) I'd still lean SCAR simply based on size/weight etc. I'd prefer the SCAR even more because of its operating system.

The 14.5 PredatOBR is only 2oz heavier than the SCAR, and the magazines can be interchangeable with other SR-25 platforms. The larue also comes stock with a SS barrel with 1/11.5 twist. They both should handle suppressed the right way as well. With those numbers it probably comes down to personal preference.
I am holding off for now to see how this product turns out, right now they only have pictures of their lower

Doug at ATE up in Michigan has been doing some freakin' awesome M&P RMR installs. I don't even want an M&P, but damn these are bad-ass!

I have been debating an RMR install on my M&P 9 for a year now. The price is high and initial transition will permanently change the weapon. Although I know Bowie Tactical offers a blank plate to go over the area if the RMR is not used. Suppressor sights are a must. I would still like some manual sights even though I am using a dot.

The M&P is a fantastic handgun. The ergos are close to a 1911, recoil is light and with an APEX package, it rivals the best single action guns. Its accurate and reliable. If I had to give up but one of my handguns in my collection, my M&P would stay. I have had it for over 3 years now. I have shot thousands of rounds out of it. I take it with me ever range weekend and run at least 50 to 100 rounds each time through it. Has not failed me yet.

Now that (the scales on top of slide) is something I'd like for my 45FS. Mine has been a tank; took it to Southern CA when I got to help instruct at a Sea Cadet firearm safety/marksmanship event and I forgot my cleaning kit- 400 rounds of Federal (dirty ammo, dirtier than Blazer and WWB) and dust from the winds (.22 shoots were hilarious to watch) and not a single hiccup. I've got around 17-1800 rounds through it and never one FTE or FTFeed or FTFire; flawless.

ETA: Link to a company site for them?? Google's turning up squat.
