That looks like the kit I've been using for four months now. Works great no errors or flicker and the cheaper than what I paid.

Thanks. It's tempting. The video says it deactivates the DRL. Is that true on the B7 as well?

if you have experience working on cars, not too hard. If you have rarely worked on car I dont suggest this be your first experience.

Why show pictures of the light color, instead of cutoff and any associated scatter the typical headlamps provide...are there any projector lenses available suitable for HID's that aren't the Chinese manufacturer yet?

1-year warranty? Makes me question the quality.

    These guys: http://www.ddmtuning.com/

LIFETIME WARRANTY and ONLY $40 for a slim ballast kit!

They have a kit for the fog lights too. You just have to tell them, it's for an H8, type bulb if I recall correctly. Whatever type bulb our fog lights are. But you will get error lights every time your cornering lights cut on. For a while I just always had the fog lights on but I finally disabled the cornering feature in VCDS and no more error lights. I don't know if that's a big deal for you or not but it's a solution.

Is there a way to make these work for the high beams as well? Sorry if it's a dumb question but I know nothing about wiring/electric stuff.

Same kit for the H7 can be installed in the low and also in the high beams. Same thing, you only need to buy 2 kits for the H7 type bulb.

The tricky part with the hi breams will be holding the bulbs in the housing. The way the stock hi beam bulb is held in place is with clips so the pass through adapters will be useless for the hi beams. But there may be some other kind of adapter available or you could modify the existing parts in there somehow. I've looked at doing the hi beams but haven't given much more thought since I've got the Chinese bixenons to figure out. Good luck with the hibeams and let us know how it works out.

since i have no creative skill whatsoever for engineering anything im thinking either superglue or paying someone else to figure it out for the high beams

I wouldn't advise superglue. When's your new car coming in? We may have plenty of time to figure it out before then. Email USP they may have a solution for that, their customer support is pretty good in my opinion.

I am going to call the dealer today to get the ball rolling on ordering the new one. I'm still waiting on the wrecked Passat to come back from the shop so I most likely won't actually do anything till the end of the month.

Nope not the same HID kit.

My kit is from DistantXtremes because I heard from some of my friends they had some very high quality HID kits. I installed this kit XE+ Premium 35w Slim H7 Kit in a 6000K color option.

I was sitting out on the whole HID thing until a Groupon came by today in my area for a Canbus HID kit installed for 149, lifetime warranty. Went by and picked out the 6000k kit to be installed tomorrow. Will take reference pics tonight. Couldn't resist since I'd have a place to go to and bitch about the install should things act a little goofy. Can always drive back angry and have them yank it out for good measure too. </thread-hijack>

@coffeemade - do you feel like the 6000k was the right color option. I was really on the fence between that and 8000k but thought better of it. My primary concern is that I don't want to be one of "those guys" blinding people in front of me at night.

6000k is an awesome color nothing crazy, no blue, just looks like ice, a very clean white. 8000K will for sure look blue. I am going to do yellow fogs. 6000K looks just like my 2007 GTI that had HID's from the factory. I am very happy with them and not once has anyone looked at my car weird or flashed me on the highway or even gotten out of my way due to my lights. This link has a few photos of what the color looks like http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...ID-DIY-Install

Just got a 12 Passat SE yesterday and I want a factory looking HID. 4300K is what you recommend is that correct? No light failure messages? I had a Saab before this and aftermarket HID's on those are nightmares.

Looks great Brad! Can you let me know how you installed these? My sister just got a 2012 passat and she wants me to install these for her. Did you cut a hole thru the plastic cover for the wiring? Can you share any pics of inside the hood so I can see how exactly you ran and mounted everything?

    Thanks!
PS - anyone know how hard is it to add fog lights to an SE w sunroof model? currently no fog lights there.

Here's a write up I did a while ago. But some things to know the wire colors vary from passenger to driver side so just pay attention to the pin numbers for power and ground. Also if you are using the double side tape to mount it I go with the back of the headlight.

    http://www.myturbodiesel.com/forum/f...install-11271/

Also here is another write up some did on a hid install with better pictures but it's with a different kit so you can still get a good idea for the install with the two DIYs.

    http://www.myturbodiesel.com/forum/f...install-16169/

Coffee made also the same write up here on vortex. Much luck with the install.

Not sure...looks like it says 9006 bulbs. I'm not sure if they would fit in the housings properly.
