does the fuel pump prime when you turn key to acc?
#1
It starts and then stalls out almost immediately after starting.
it'll fire up on the second or third try usually, but sometimes
will want to die unless I give it gas for a few seconds. So far
I've put on some new ngk plugs, new ignition wires, distributor cap
and rotor. Does this sound like an ignition or a fuel problem?

Sounds like a vacuum problem. I forgot to tighten up my intake hose after replacing my air filter once and the car did exactly that; started, then immediately stalled. If you have a propane torch handy, open the valve (but don't light it!) and get someone to go over all the vacuum lines while you try to start the car. If it stays running, wherever your propane is aimed, that's your culprit.

I always like to check ignition timing first. Then move on to vaccum.

I will check this things right away. I'm rather novice with these cars. haha
Funny that you mentioned that toplessbunny! I just changed my air filter maybe a week ago..

So my cabriolet diesels occasionally after turning the car off. According to Bentley, this could be due to incorrect ignition timing. Fingers crossed I can knock these two issues with one stone. I've never tinkered with ignition timing before. Cabby-info's DIYs are a godsend though!![]()
my 87 Cabriolet is actually the first car I've worked on myself before. Gotta admit, every little thing I do to this car is sort of a rush. Good feeling. I'm 22, but I'm eager to learn and I love my car! Sorry, end of rant. Hah
