Thread: FS: ***1992 VW GTI VR6 Supercharged, 2 time PVW feature car***

  1. 03-19-2012 11:53 AM #1
Well, what can I say. I've reached a point in my life where I'm not sure I can justify still owning this beauty. I don't have the time or the money to play with it the way that I used to. I've owned this car for about 11 years and I've babied it the entire time. The last winter it saw (breifly) was 2001. It's been garaged during the winters since 2002. The car is NOT perfect by any means, it has plenty of small flaws here and there and things about it I would still like to upgrade/change if I had the time or the $$, but it is an absolute eye grabber, and a nice total package of fun.

Let me start with the bad things:

-needs passenger side axle, it's started to click a bit and I haven't had a chance to replace it.
-still has rear drum brakes, however the e-brake works, so it's up to debate whether or not this is actually bad
-has a few dents and dings and a few minor scratches here and there.
-Seems to have a starter issue once in a while (seemingly hot days) that I haven't been able to track down, becuase I can't reproduce the issue when I'm actually trying to work on it. The simple work around is to jump starter directly to battery and it starts every time.
-Despite being a NOS part, the drivers side window occasionally decides not to roll down for a mintue.

Ok, now on to the list of things I've done. I'm sure i'll be adding to this as I think of things (so many over the years it's impossible to remember).

    Exterior:
-Full respray including door jambs (windows removed), but excluding the engine bay.
    -Shaved hatch, shaved side markers
-rear hatch glass without brakelight (very rare)
-frenched rear plate in bumper with mk4 bumper recess, includes plate lighting, VERY clean.
-golf rallye taillights from the UK.
-Fluted crosshair headlights with citylights and protectors, good luck finding these made in this quality nowadays.
-badgeless grille with custom red stripe OEM style
    -Chrome audi 4000 handles w/key

    Wheels/suspension/Brakes:
-Front BBS RM 8x15 with Kodiak Lips (also unavailable now)
-Rear BBS RM 8.5x15 with kidiak lips
-Toyo T1-s 195/45/15 all around (2 need replacing)
-Weitec XS coilovers, dampening adjustable and height adjustable
-Front brakes are corrado g60 11" with drilled slotted rotors.
    -R32 control arm bushings
-all new front end bushings 6 years ago (maybe 6000 miles on them)
-both rear wheel cylinders replaced 2 years ago (just to keep them drum brakes so fresh)
-G60 arches front AND REAR (yes they are different) with modified fenders underneath to accomodate ride height.

    Interior:
-mk3.5 leather seats, front and back
    -beetle leather head rests
-REAL Votex console with EXTREMELY rare zender 3 gauge pod and EXTREMELY RARE power window panel
    -recovered headliner
-retrofitted seatbelts that don't attach to door.
    -Alpine head unit
-boston aucoustics front speakers and pioneer rear
-oldschool momo shift knob and shift boot
    -corrado steering wheel
-1989 GTI 16v pleather door cards to match seats
    -mk3 VR6 DE gauge cluster

    Engine:
-1996 passat Vr6 swap with approx 150k currently on it (I don't know exactly)
-rebuilt about 6k miles ago Z engineering self contained oil supercharger: POlished
-polished intake manifold (needs some clean up)
-GIAC programming specifically designed for the stage 1 charger setup (runs PERFECT)
-2.5" TT exhaust with stainless Borla muffler
-new water pump a few thousand miles ago
-Car put down 235 hp to the wheels when it was on the dyno. stage 1 cogged charger pushes about 6.5 psi.

    Now on to the photos..

    (fine bearded gentleman not included)

The price I'm asking is lucky number 13,000$.

I don't want to hear what you think it is or isn't worth, becuase I don't care. Don't bother asking me to part/sell anything separately, becuase I won't. Also don't bother lowballing becaue again, I don't care.

This car might be worth more to me than you, but it is a piece of history at this point, has been featured in PVW twice and might be one of the most known mk2 GTI's of all time, so I'm posting it up for what I think it's worth and unless you're serious about purchasing it for that price, it will remain in my garage.

Thanks for looking, please e-mail me at Thelumpya2@gmail.com if you are SERIOUSLY interested.

Thanks, yes, they are French yellow fogs, with modified housing to accept mk3 foglight projectors behind them, so that unlike most mk2 fogs, these actually have light output, rather than just being decorative.

    You can't.

The car is worth it for sure, i have installed mk3 rear disks on mine, and finding a clean MK2 is all but impossible today. I have seen them for about 7k.

Bottom line, with the Vr6 conversion, coils, rims, interior and write ups in Performance VW, this car is worth the money. Dont be a hater!
