The Bad:
- Very small rust spot on right rear fender and by hatch glass. I have a rust free hatch that I can include in the sale. The body is otherwise an 8.5/10. There are a couple very small dings. Hardly noticeable. The front bumper and hood have some normal marks due to tiny road debris.
- The odometer doesn’t work. Never bothered me enough to get a replacement.
- The compression is slightly lower on cylinder four. I did a compression test recently and came up with the following:
#1 120psi
#2 125
#3 125
#4 95
This is Exactly the same readings as when I did the test 2 years ago. The PO did some troubleshooting before me. He dropped some oil in cylinder four and re-tested compression. When he did this the compression jumped up to nearly 140psi. I’m sure if you were to re-ring it, you would see even more power. The readings never got worse and the car pulls hard, so I never bothered with it yet.
- Battery has a very slow drain. The battery cut off switch is there for when it sits for extended periods.
-Sunroof tilts fine, but doesn’t slide without issues
-Could use a better tune to realize the full potential of this set-up. Spoke with John Grossman of Grossman Tuning about this since he has the same Tec2 standalone on his Rabbit. Again, this is just being completely honest if someone wanted a perfect car. It runs great as is.
