so I have a buddy calls me up today because his car has a rough idle, he bought it with a light deer strike to the front, he did the timing belt, didnt get it right, and started the engine and bent all the valves, he decided to get a new engine- was ATQ, he got a 90k mile AHA, swapped all the parts, so everything plugs up... this is where i got involved- has misfire and cam pos sensor bank 1 B+ short to GND code, I replaced the sensor with another i had, no diff- all the while I also have a code for misfire at cyl 2, 5, 6... no others thou... so I check all the cylinders for fire- got spark at each one, ok check plug wires to ea... good, replaced all the injectors just to be sure, from original injectors to the newer 90k mile AHA injectors (purple) and still misfire on cyl 2,5,6.... nothing figured out yet other than I have no power from the ECM to the pass side firewall brown connector- calls for 4.5-5.5 Volts, I have 0.0 V... so is that sounding like a ECM issue at the intermal bus-bar or? no damage to the harnes or wire from ecm to cam pos sensor...looks good' just no juice, get continuity thru wires... no other codes and no other obvious issues, car is a 2000 ATQ 5 speed 2.8v6 he is too cheap to get another ecm to replace his to try...

looking for ideas, in the morning i'm going to try running a "key on" 12v source and resistor to drop it down to 5v coming in to the sensor to see if it works or not, tried jumping from drivers side that works great to pass side but the drop is down to 1.5V not enough juice...

audi tech, but this has me stumped

so progress if it can be called that, i pulled the intake to look for the hiss/ leak at / around cyl 2,5,6
found nothing to speak of and all hoses intact, but noticed that the fellas that installed the engine had crossed the knock sensor and cam sensor wires... so put them right -re-assembled

so now i have 5 volts running to the cam sensor- still not working getting a fault code for it still
bank 1 g-40 cam sensor B+ short to gnd... swapped the sensor with another nothing... still gettting miss on 2,5,6 checked plugs, all good, used guided fault finding, all injectors signaled working,
8.86volts on each injector with key on, getting spark at each plug, no broken plug wires or plug boots...swapped coilpack assy....still miss... I am at the end..., i spent 3 hrs on it yesterday and 2 hrs on it today.... gonna do a compression check tom, and see what i got... cranks slow at start, but idles at 1k-1200 rpm, just with flashing CEL and miss
