I am having steering issues with my 04 V8, there are no faults, and everything checks out with VCDS. When i am driving at highway speeds the steering will feel supes sensative sometimes, i will be in a turn holding the wheel steady and it feels like the car is pulsing... like turning in harder and then backing off on its own every half second. Everything is tight up front, air in tires is good... i am at a loss, any ideas?

The problem with my Touareg occurs when turning left at low speed. Mostly at parking lot. It was annoying. Feels like gears are grinding.

My 04 was making a grinding noise at slow speed when I turned. It was suggested that I have an alignment done to it...It's in the shop for the alignment as I speak. I also noticed my ESP light was flashing while going around turns...I just did a brake job with rotors and it started this new thing with the ESP...I'm hoping that the alignment fixes said issues...I'll find out in the next hour or so..

Mine was doing the bumpy wheel in a parking garage symptom. Especially when turning left. Finally got it to do it for the dealer. Replaced under warranty. It is called the differential stepper motor. Lindsay VW replaced it, and viola...

Problem is gone. drives like new!

PS don't let them talk you into a "software upgrade" or some such thing. Won't fix this problem.

    good luck

I have peformed several stepper motor "software upgrades" for the described concern and several of the, are fixed by the re-flash. I would suggest that before stepper motor replacement.

Well, from my previous post....the alignment did not help.....I actually ended up on the side of I95 with the Touareg Grinding to a holt...with a gapping whole in the rear differential housing...
Looking for parts now....and yes it's not cheap...not to many Touareg's in the ole scrap yards..
