Our Rs should be keeping each other company. And they are actually both headed up to Chicago area. Bought mine from Team VW/Audi in Merrillville, IN. Get to spend my first 2100 miles in my R on a road trip back to SF. Can't imagine a better way to get acquainted.

Your vehicle is actually listed as "Production Stock." It has already been built and factory inspected. You ordered it from Winn VW, right?

I thought production stock meant it has been assigned a production week. Once it's built and factory inspected it'll show as in transit from factory. At least that's how mine went.

Well then our cars must be freinds after the long ship ride...and yes you will have a nice ride home to get aquainted with her before you are home....if I know what day you are passing through the area I will have to turn to I-294 and wave hello ...I am about a 30-40 minutes ride west of Merriville...I guess I should be glad I have so many dealers in the area and have one that has a good enough record at selling the special cars to be able to get me what I wanted, my dealer is only a 15 minute drive from my house....heck depending on the days we get our cars and what days I am working we can do lunch or something.....

Yep, from winn vw. Production stock already? I thought that meant it was in line to getting ready, per the 'track your r' thread.

Showing as a 2012, however, I can't determine if the car was already in the system before you purchased it.

I ordered mine through the dealer I work at about a month ago and I still have no further info. I was told yesterday that they have no more 2012 allocations and its looking like mine is going to be a 2013. Any idea when the 2013's are going to start coming in?

Per my dealer, any vehicles that go into production after May 15th, are to be 2013's. FWIW.

I just put a down payment on a grey 2 door with nav and it isn't getting to me until 7/16/12 as a 2013 model. I still think between 2012 and 2013 they will only produce 5000 total. I believe there's logistical reasons as to why they didn't just brand everybody's R a 2013 and a lot of it has to do with date of production like you said. I don't care what year mine is, I'm getting an R!!! ...2 months from now.

Noticed you're currently a WRX owner as well. All I had to do is sit in one of these and realize I would rather have this car than do 60 stupidly fast...I then asked myself why the hell anybody would ever buy an STI sedan with a gaping wing?!

WRX is a great car for the money, the Limited nice, but still too tinny. Live and learn. WRX, with a few mods will blow the doors off of many cars out there. STI is sick, but not a good DD, the STI Limited was a sleeper, No W I N G .. I have been in and out of a bunch of VW's, Audi's & Subi's, I am hooked on AWD. Been also considering an A3 or A4 Avant, Allroad or even the S60 R.
Time will tell.

I love AWD. I also love driving stick... Unfortunately there aren't a lot of options left. I'll be interested to see if the promise of this new BMW M-Performance AWD line lives up to its hype. The current S4 is nice but it's too heavy for my liking. I really wish they would just bring the S3 here. If it were priced slightly below the TTS, I would buy one over the Golf R in a heartbeat. But anyway, I love the WRX but you are totally correct. It's super tinny. I feel the combo of refinement, good NVH, and AWD will do it for me. CGM 2-Door coming in for me mid-July as a 2013.
