Thinking about picking up this Seiko 5 from amazon.

    http://www.amazon.com/Seiko-SNKK27-A...432372&sr=8-11

I read some comments that when they got their watches they have had some scratches on them or that they didn't look like they got new models. Is this normal when buying a watch on amazon?

Also thinking about replacing the bracelet with a blue canvas bracelet. is it hard? about how much would it cost me to have it done by a pro?

sorry I'm a bit of a noob with watches. I've been thinking about starting a collection and I think this would be a good first watch to start it.

It's really just a matter of buying it from Amazon themselves, and not another obscure seller just doing business on Amazon. Otherwise, you might as well just take your chances on eBay.

This is what you want to see:
"Ships from and sold by Amazon.com."

You don't want to see this:
"Ships from and sold by JustCalculators."

Changing bands/bracelets isn't really that hard. I looked around on youtube and was able to replace a bracelet with a leather band pretty easily. A watch spring bar tool would be the best way to do it, but I did it with a knife.

It is really very very simple to do stuff like this.

You can buy a basic set of watch tools that will allow you to do anything you'd want to at home (changing bands / bracelets, re-sizing bracelets, changing batteries for quartz, etc) for about $20. Think of it as the cost of one or two battery changes or bracelet sizings at a commercial place, and you're set for life.
