Thread: Considering a 125cc bike

  1. 03-22-2012 02:30 PM #1
Don't laugh, but me, a male in my late 20s, is considering getting a 125cc bike.
At first I was thinking a scooter to get me around town, but a bike might be more interesting.
It would mostly be used for getting around town and the surrounding areas, no highway driving.

I am considering a Honda CM125. Does anyone here have any experience regarding their reliability? Or would something newer be better?

Due to licensing issues it would have to be 125cc for now. I don't have a proper motorcycle permit.

No reason to laugh, nothing wrong with actually figuring out how to ride before getting a bigger bike. No idea on their reliability but hey it's a Honda.

    Aprilia makes a sweet little 125 as well . . .

There is nothing wrong with the CM125 as far as I know. Easy maintenance but given it's age, I'm sure it will give you an issue or two.

My first bike was a CJ360T. I ride a restored CB750K5 now. I love the older Hondas.

I had one to practice Wheelies on.

Found it on Craigslist. I traded a 50" LCD for it. It was great. I put some street tires on it, it was a blast.

plus when we go to Road Atlanta your allowed to ride it in around.

edit: I thought we were talking about a pit bike. Whooops

If it was me........(It's not). I'd get an earlier CB.

Super reliable and always easy to resell. I enjoy small displacement bikes for running around town.

I have a 2011 Honda CBR125R, and I bought this to replace a 2007 CBR125R that I sold to a friend. And I've got 20+ years of riding experience and I have other bikes. The 125 is by far the most fun bike. Not fast by any measure ... but fun. I ride the 125 more than the other bikes put together; the '07 had just over 40,000 km on it when I sold it.

I am looking for a 125cc streetbike as well. Similar reasons as I just moved to Korea for the year. Didn't bother trying to bring over the 1050 I think the CBR125R and Aprilia models are very nice looking. Also Megelli has some cool stuff.
