Godspeed Radiator with Stock Plastic Neck?

I could have sworn I saw pictures of people using the stock radiator neck with a Godspeed radiator. I guess mine is just defective? When I align it so that the neck fits inside the hole in the Godspeed radiator, only one of bolt holes lines up...

Anybody else have this problem? Looks like I'll be sending it back...

I drilled and tapped a 2nd hole on the rad to get it to work.

just get an aluminum rad neck and be done with it. why upgrade the rad and leave the craptastic neck on there.

Recently, I have noticed alot of people having GodSpeed issues.

Suggestion?

1) Brand new stock
2) PWR if aftermarket

I used a radneck from gruven. Nothing fits that radiator well....i actually made a gasket to seal 100%. The godspeed is off a little....but make it work as cooling is much better with that radiator. Well worth the hassle....i will post a pic if i get a chance. Had i to do it all again....i woukd by the radneck....take it to a welder and have it welded onto the radiator for a permanent solution.

Has anyone had a Godspeed radiator where the Gruven neck DIDN'T work?

Pretty sure I'm just going to buy the Gruven neck. After a whole bunch of beating around the bush from the eBay seller I bought the Godspeed radiator from, they actually had a guy from Godspeed call me today and from talking to him, he seemed pretty sure my radiator was not "defective" (so I'm assuming they've had other people have the issue of the stock plastic neck not lining up with the bolt holes...or he just wanted to get me off the phone).

I just wanted to make sure that nobody has had a problem with getting a Gruven neck to bolt onto a Godspeed radiator before I order one. There's always the possibility of getting it welded on, but should the radiator ever fail it would be nice to not have that $100 neck permanently attached...

The gruven neck is designed to bolt up to a stock radiator, so the bolt holes will be in the same place as on your plastic neck. The only difference is the length of the bolts. If the plastic neck doesn't fit the gruven one probably won't either. Depending on the location of the holes in your radiator you may be able to drill another hole in the flange on the gruven neck to get it to line up.

bought my godspeed from ebay. same issue the holes dont line up and where the neck pushes in looks like it waht cut with a hole saw and the hole is not lined up the oring would never seal. if you still got the radiator, cause they wanted me to pay to ship mine back. i found an aluminum elbow on ebay $11.00 bucks shipped and it will have to be welded in. but it will make it work and it's bitchin. http://www.ebay.com/itm/350308512278...84.m1423.l2649 thats the lnk. let me know i am sure it will make mine work!

Who was the seller? I would tell them the auction says (at least it probably does...they all say the same thing) that it's a 100% bolt on stock fit, blah blah blah. So tell them the item is not as advertised and you want them to email you a shipping label you can print out and use to ship it back.

Guys, take it from someone who spent the last week making the Godspeed fit my car ...

The bolt holes do NOT match. If you line up one, the other will be off and vice versa. I put a bolt in the hole closest to the engine bay, and then center-punched, drilled, and tapped a new hole into the radiator for the second bolt.

You save a lot of $$ with the Godspeed, but you pay for it in labor.

yes with much work and language some spare pieces and welding its in a 1991 passat wagon with g60 swap and i am very happy, cools much better than stock and looks good too...........pain and suffering pay off in the long run oh yeah the ebay elbow is the ticket only the fitting for the hose is 1 1/2 inch but you can force the hose on.

Did you use the vr6 radiator? Dont see one listed for a g-60

i am using a stock elbow on a godspeed. bolt holes lined up perfect
going on 2 years now

there must be a new batch with chinese quality control...

yep used the vr6 radiator , and an aluminum neck i found on ebay had it welded on and after much trial and error fitment it went in quite nice i am happy with it now. i posted the ebay link for the neck guy still had 61 left as of yesterday.
