I'm trying to buy a race car and I only have room for one project at my house. I hate to sell my baby but I need to make room for the race car.
Up for sale is a 1968 VW Beetle with a rebuilt 1600 dual port motor and 4 speed manual transmission. It has a merged collector with straight pipe. I love the exhaust, it shoots fire between shifts. The motor has new pistons, jugs and race seals throughout. It starts on the first try without fail. I drive the car daily but it does leak a little oil. The case had a hairline crack around the case stud in the rear but I had a VW Mechanic patch it and it seems to hold well, however it leaks a bit. Nothing major, I'd estimate about half a quart of oil over the nice car driving season. The transmission shifts well and the clutch holds strong.
It has new brakes at all four corners, new suspension at all four corners and new ball joints up front. It also has new tires on at all four corners with less than 1000 miles on them. The wheels are extremely hard to find and have been resprayed black metallic with metal flake. The pic really doesn't do them justice. I'm pretty sure they sell for 900 a set, especially in the condition mine are in. No rash, no gashes. They probably deserve to be powder coated.
The pan is solid and rust free. The previous owner patched the battery tray.
The truck cab conversion is a beetle front with fiberglass rear. It does not leak and there is room for storage where the backseats used to be. The hood of the truck is a 40's Ford replica hood. The interior is black carpet with 2004 VW Passat seats. They are extremely comfortable. The radio powers on by does not work. I was planning on swapping to a newer stereo.
The truck bed is bolted to a tube frame rear chassis and is made out of oak plywood. The oak finishing plywood looks bad but the metal framing is strong and true.
The car needs nothing to drive daily. It does need body work to be a show car. It is presently in primer matte black. The pictures of the motor are just to show you it was rebuilt, everything is together and running perfectly.
