I have been contemplating with the idea of 4motion for about 4 months know! So I decided to do some heavy research on it. Since I will have all the K04 power now going directly to all 4 wheels, I might be in search of more power in the near future.

So 4motion project begins on this:

Here are most of parts that I have so for:

All of these parts directly bolt up to my car without any need for cutting anything period. I even have every bolt hole to bolt up everything. Just waiting on my driveshaft to come, the rear passenger side 4motion spindle/knuckle and oh yeah my Audi S3 gearbox + transfer case & Aluminum rear sub frame I purchased from UK!!

Some what, I am still going thru the figuring out the haldex connection and the second fuel sender unit on the driver side of the 4motion fuel tank. I know that the haldex wiring is: pin 1 is Ignition power 15+, pin 2 is Negative, pin 3 is Brake light switch, pin 4 is unused, pin 5 is Can Low, pin 6 is Can high.

I wanted to do the same thing to my 2.0t but the gas mileage of my 05 V6 4-mo persuaded me not to. Plus your only using the rear when it detects slippage. Which I guess can save some gas compared to the torsion system of 50/50 split.

Are you going to stick with the stock haldex unit or do you plan to upgrade?

I am keeping the Manuel trans and yes haldex clutches only engage when it detect slip. So essenticaly gas mileage will stay the same on the highway but in city stop lights that is another story lol.

Well for now I will keep stock haldex ecu I want to get everything working first. But I heard hpa haldex does wonders to how a 4motion car behaves.

heres the on for the 3.6 awd B6.

    http://www.namotorsports.net/Haldex/...mber=HAGEN2PKG

From what i read at one point, tht is the top one it had everything to be able to switch between a stock mode, sport mode and race mode. I would assume the sport mode is like a 40/60 split in power front to rear and race is like a 20/80 split.

Don't quote me though i didn't go into great depth bc it benefits me in no way currently

I've read posts from R32 owners who swapped the haldex unit. Seems there is a difference in handling, but not major unless they track the car hard. Some say they're able to break the rear end loose in the wet after the switch.

Well, I basically have everything I need. I am just waiting on some other parts to arrive (gearbox and rear subframe from UK). In total so far I spent $3925.00 - The key is to really shop around, because there are a lot of good deals out there. I still need to buy the Haldex harness (oem) one which is $47 my cost from a good friend that works at a VW dealer. Some bolts and nuts that still need to be also bought. Oh, and one more thing a need down pipe as my APR one will not work do to the drive shaft going down the center tunnel to the rear diff. So tack on another $500-700 for a say Milltek or Scorpion Golf R DP.

Now that I think of it...your 2.0t will be lighter in the front, so maybe handling would be more balanced w less under steer than the v6.

Oh man... I've been wanting to do this to my 2.0T B6 manual waggie since I got it but cash and lack of mechanical ability prohibit me. I'll live vicariously through you... SUBSCRIBED!

Yeah I thought about that. I bought the aluminum rear sub frame, instead of the steel one. So I am actually saving weight there, but gaining the weight with the rear diff and the drive shaft. The rear spindles/knuckles from the 4motion are also aluminum just like the ones I have on now accept mine are for the fwd. The trans is about the same weight as the one I have now also accept for the small added weight of the transfer case (angle drive) that attaches to the S3 trans.

Thanks, man! The swap on our cars is really pretty straight forward from a 4motion OEM one. It is basically a unbolt and bolt on the 4motion. Accept for wiring up the haldex which should not be that hard. I just have to figure out were the 3 wires from the extra fuel sending go.

are you replacing the Transmission? not sure about manual, but the tip tronic transmission in a 4 motion is not the same as the FWD ones.

My car original came with a manual. I am replacing it with another manual but one that can connect a transfer box/angles drive to it. The one I bought is from an Audi S3.

Thats the easy part, all you have to do is connect the canbus wires anywhere into the drivetrain canbus and your done.

Isn't the haldex module a stand alone unit that is plug n play?
