Anyone ever taken the seat covers off the seats?

The cloth sport seats in my new/used A4 are pretty grungy. Rather than try and clean them with some spray or whatever, I'd like to try and remove the fabric covers from seat and throw them in my washing machine.

Anyone ever attempted this?

I used a jet wash on a set of seats I took out of a mk2 jetta because they were so bad. Cleaned them up pretty decent and they dried back out within a couple days just sitting in the garage

This is a great idea until you go to reinstall them... they are prone to shrink and covers are a tight fit new. An extractor will do the same job without removal of the covers. Good luck.

Now I wonder if the entire seat will fit in the washing machine...
