Everybody likes to post up pics of their rides shined up and what not... Here's a thread for all the oopsies...

This happened about two weeks after I got my car, parked at work as usual. The exterior faucet on the building exploded out into the parking lot. Guess where my car was parked... Yep, Right in front of it. Ha ha ha What are the odds? I never even noticed a faucet in the seven years I have been parking there...The best part was I was literally walking around the office trying to find where the sound of water running was coming from. Water was blasting on the hood/windshield for a good 20 minutes before a coworker showed up and told me what was going on.

    WTF?

    The Carnage

Luckily it missed the hood or any lights. The mark came right off with a little rubbing compound... so no harm no foul. Ha ha ha.

What's the biggest bummer thing that's happened to your R so far? Daily's are gonna get dings and things... the first one's always the most painful.

Share with the group. We are here for you.

Bird Droppings!!!!!!!! After a fresh wash and things were shiney and looking great the next AM I come out to find the car had been assaulted. In my moment of rage several things ran through my mind...

    A gun....
    A chainsaw....

A quick hose off had to do for the moment but it's rather embarrassing to have a car with the temp tags on it and covered in bird poop.

Only bonus I did get to spend that afternoon washing it again.

my 4th day having the R i came out of work into the parking lot after a long night shift and found a dent in my left front fender right in the curve where it comes up to meet the hood. Obviously someone leaned on it pretty hard to make the dent. It's a bit too high to have been a door or something.

I have to look at it every time I get in my car now and it is driving me nuts. I just have to call the dent guy but have been too busy. I'll post up a pic when I get off work in the morning.

As far as I know mine is still immaculate but that's because I drive it like a crazy obsessed person and don't follow trucks, keep it in a heated garage, don't really drive it on bad weather days, etc.

I'm sure after I bring it back from Wookies it will have a battle scar or two.

If they decide to take a trip to go drive the cork screw pass! This trip will eat your front bumper!!!!! Ok I might have been tailgating a bit but the rocks that were on the road turned my MKIV's bumper into a cheese grater. But it was a fun drive at night!

The first few hundred miles on the car were from my dad driving it from Maine to Boston to pick me up at the airport... Right before I get on the plane to depart to Beantown, I get a phone call from pops saying that there was a minor accident, and that I would just have to see it when he picked me up.

When I arrived, I found that on the drive down there was a snow storm, and a plow truck driving on an overpass dumped about two feet of chunky snow onto the highway... so the R went right through it. Ended up breaking the headlight housing leaving only 1 headlight working and took a chunk out of the lower black grill... This is how the car arrived the first time I saw it, touched it, smelled it and drove it.

Luckily the dealer had another R and they harvested parts from it so I could have my R pristine in under 24hrs... said it was about a grand in damage.

Scratched the two corners of the front underside. Fixed it temporarily with CW touch up paint.
Was going to lower the car in the near future with springs or coils but now have second thoughts.

BT;DT... Only got one corner on mine, pulling into my driveway a little too quickly. It's not visible during a walkaround, so I'm not going to fix it, and call it "my first boo-boo".

...and pull into my driveway with all due care and deliberation from now on

I'm with you, doing a quick survey of the curbs, driveways and parking bumpers on my usual travels, I'd be a fool to drop it any farther.
440 million years ago there was an ice age that lasted 500,000 years. Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide levels were an order of magnitude higher than today. When you can explain that, I'll get serious about reducing my carbon footprint. Until then, I'm keeping the car.

don't have the R yet bu the first scuff on my GTI happened the day after I picked it up. driving home from LI there was a volley ball on the belt parkway and I couldn't avoid it. scratched the bumper up pretty bad. kinda felt good to have the first mishap out of the way though.

I am pretty good at keeping dings and things from happening to my car. I just dread the thought of me being at work when it hails. Especially since I live in Texas !

I had my first oops today, was on the entrance ramp getting onto a highway. The sun was glaring (no excuse) and I hit some sort of debris on the ramp. When I was able to check I notice I chipped my rim and my tire has a gash but didnt pop . I did get the wheel and tire warranty does anyone know whats exactly covered?

If your tire has a gash in it, stop by the dealer and have them replace it. Its not flat now, but it is a safety hazard, and should be covered by your tire warranty.

Do you know if they would replace the wheel it self as it was chipped and scratched, or is it just the tire itself? Thanks for the quick replies. I really appreciate it.

As I mentioned, it covers everything, including cosmetic damage - so the answer is "yes"

There is a monetary claim limit per year...I think it was something ridiculous like 5k.

This is good to know because I have a scratch on one of my wheels and I thought that they only replace wheels if it is bent and there's air coming out of it.

Yeah, that was the main reason I bought it - I'm keeping the stock rims so to me it was a no brainer. One rim replaced and you are already ahead...

I'll double check the warranty docs when I get home but the only restriction was the monetary cap.

But I do know that there are a few options as far as the whee/tire warranty goes. I think there's Gold, Platinum and something else. Anyone knows if cosmetic damage is included on all of them?

Edit: Nevermind I just looked at my paper and there is only 2 options, the standard and the deluxe. I have the standard.... Which sucks because I was under the impression that the dealer where I bought it told me it would cover cosmetic damage
