Hi, new owner of used Eurovan here.

Within weeks of purchase, van has trouble shifting, revs in gear, and engine light on. Local mechanic sez 1192 is torque converter lock-up clutch, a mechanical malfunction, and he would send tran to German Transaxle in Bend OR for about 5K.

Coincidentally, we were planning to go to Bend for spring break, so we could try to drive the car there, where German Transaxle would also install after-market cooling system (air/oil radiator), because the original motor doesn't have enough cooling power? (Not sure I got all that right.) For the same price as the local mechanic would charge.

What say the experts about this? Would trying to get to Bend where the expert is who could add this upgrade for same price be worthwhile?
