AWE Exhaust - Downpipes or not? 6MT

Hey

so I want to get the AWE exhaust but unsure if I should get the DP with it or not. I have the 6MT so the DPs are not necessary like it is with the Auto, but they tell me it will "mellow" the sounds if I get it.

Has anyone heard a 6MT with the AWE system with downpipes? Would it be as loud as an auto with DP? Or would it be quieter than the auto?

I do not have an answer on your last question but I have a 6MT and start with AWE + OEM downpipes and switch to AWE donwpipe and did not feel much difference .
I was tring to be quieter inside de cabine ,around 65 when you go up hill .It's not droning ,it's just louder .
It's also interesting how the sound travel in this car ,I don't know if you noticed it but the exhaust sound is different when you are on the passager side ....maybe because the middle resonator is below the rear seat on the driver side .

Oh interesting that It would sound lounder/different for the passenger. I wonder if it's louder when sitting in the back seat...

So with the DownPipes you did not notice it being quieter? For the additional $500 if it doesn't really make any difference then probably not worth the additional $$...

Do you by any chance have any before and after vids of when you had the AWE system with and without their DP's??

Not louder on the passenger side ,quieter actually .also try to open the passenger window or the sunroof and the sound will be not the same .

I am sure DP are needed on the DSG but like I said ,it was no difference for my ears when I switched .
What's everyone ear is different ,some people like deep sound ,other like raspy ,just a matter of taste and I am not that young anymore .

So you did not notice it sound any different after the DP... ok.

I will drive my friend's car - he has 6MT with AWE stock DP... I'll see how loud it is. I'll probbalyl not get the AWE Resonated DP...

The Resonated DP will keep you closer to stock, while still (to me) noticeable. It sounds like the Non-Res DP will fit your needs with its more pronounced tone (definitely noticeable).
Another thing to think about- as long as the exhaust is off the car, most get the downpipes, since paying for one installation is cheaper than two. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

I don't want it to be more loud actually so the non resonated DP is probably not for me. But if the Resonated is close to stock sound then I'd probably best be suited to just using the stock DP which seems to be in the middle.

If anything I'll either go Resonated or Stock... I konw how things go though and if I go with Resonated I'll wish it was louder after a while, so best of both worlds seems to be stock DP...

What vendors online sell the AWE system?

I konw you guys sell direct and I know ESE tuning sells it also but I could not find any other online sources to buy. If I buy at a local dealer shop I have to pay taxes

Absolutely will... unfortunately though, all the vids I've seen does not do the exhaust justice. When I heard it live on my friend's S4 I was blown away... You'd need quality microphones to capture that. But I'll try

I don't have a vid yet but I have a couple pics of the tips. I didn't particularly like the look of the AWE tips - so what I did was rotate the tips 90 degrees so that they contoured the bumped - similar to the stock tips (on the left side of the car the tips are longer on the right - opposite for the right side of the car). I think they look nice now that I've done that... if that does'nt make sense then just look at the pics and imagine the tips upright rather than twisted like I have them.

As for the exhaust itself - wow what a spectacular sound! Tuned quality performance sound. Throaty at the right time and quiet and civil all at the same time. When you really get on it she sings...
