He bought it from a junkyard as a roller for like $300 or something obscene like that, he bought it with the intention of building a budget Pro-Touring project, trying to make it come in at under $5k or something like that... Well, a built LS7 (I believe), and a few other bits later, he's gone a bit over budget haha, but its an absolute monster.
A few of those details might be a bit off (exact dollar figures, LS7/LS6, might be twin turbo, etc), everything I just said was from memory, but its reasonably close to the story behind the car. I looked for a link to the build, but I couldn't find it.
*EDIT* Well this should keep you all occupied for awhile, found the build thread.
And for those checking my answers, I wasn't too far off. He spent $400, not 300 on the shell. And it has an LS3 stroker, not an LS7. But I mean, whatever, close enough.

i don't like convertibles, hate body kits but for some reason have always had a thing for Saleens, even the verts.
And the price isn't much more than a comparable GT
