Had a mount in my MK3 VR6 and it was the best upgrade I did. Tried one in my MK4 1.8T and I pulled it out almost immediately. The vibrations were horrible and the car felt awful. How would this work in my R?... keeping in mind we do get a lot of snow and a lot of cold weather... as in -35 degrees celcius.

Luvadubdub,
There must be hundreds of Golf R owners out there now (many, many Vortexers) with this mod. The 75a mount provides a performance improvement without being noticable...which is what a motor mount should do.
I have lived in Edmonton, I am aware of the winters. I have sold these mounts in Regina, Winnipeg, etc. They will stand up to the weather...![]()

Not worried about them surviving... worried about me surviving the vibrations the cold may bring out in the mount. Like I said, loved it in the VR6... Never noticed it. Hated the one I tried in my 1.8T. You really figure i won't notice any additional vibrations? Even in winter?

You will DEFINITELY notice an increase in vibrations with this mount, but they are not so bad that it becomes annoying. The mount makes the engine feel more connected to the car. I actually REALLY like mine.

Installed my 75a Red mount yesterday and OMG, what an amazing upgrade! It for sure vibrates down low and is a little harsher, but I quickly got used to it and it doesn't really bother me anymore.
Everything feels much more connected with the drive train, shifts feel more precise and more solid. I had a hard time getting it into 1st to 2nd when taking it up above 6K, not anymore, shifting feels much more effortless. Love it!
This also might a placebo effect, but I did some quick lane changes at speed (on a closed road with no other cars or traffic) and I swear to god, it feels like it reduces body roll and doesn't seem to throw the engine causing it to transfer weight in the wrong direction making the car feel unstable. Just feels more hunkered down.
I wish I would have done this upgrade to my GTI when I had it!
No Brainer upgrade!

Depends on how sensitive you or your wife/passengers are to it. You can feel the whole car vibrating when idling (not when on the go though). So when stopped at a light or sitting and waiting, You will feel it for sure. I personally don't find it unpleasant and if you've never sat in the car before, you would think that its normal (I had a few passengers after the install who didn't notice if after I talked to them).
However, be aware that the mount does have a wear in period and many people on this board report that the vibrations either reduce to a point where they are barely noticed, or go away entirely. So I say give it a few hundred miles, I will update if my settles down.

Sounds like it won't be a problem at all and certainly worth a little vibration at a stand still. Thanks for the info...

On your website the Golf R is now listed under the 85A durometer core interlock.
Is this correct? Is this the one you are now recommending for the golf R?

Pretty sure for all Mk6's, the 75A is what is recommended, I could imagine 85A being very very harsh.

I just looked at your site on my phone so I had a non-cached version.
I'm still seeing Golf R under the 85a.
Thanks for clearing that up.
I'll be placing my order soon!

I got the 75 one... Just haven't installed it yet!... As well as my short shifter!
#65
How hard are these to install? Planning on ordering a Short Shifter from HPA... might as well get this done as well.
#66
You can download a PDF of the installation manual from the "mount" page on the HPA Website.

Took me and my buddy 45 minutes to pry out the OEM one. PITA as mine did not come out easy. Getting the new one in took 5 minutes. Lube, rubber mallet, bolt. Done.
