so i installed several ceiling speakers throughout my house and when i went to hook up my new reciever i'm not sure where i need to install the wires. it's not surround sound, i just want the radio and components to play over the speakers. i tried them on the speaker jacks but it sounded real weak. any ideas?

    this is the reciever...

How did you wire them? More information would be helpful.

That said, you have a couple of options.

That receiver can natively run two separate sets of stereo speakers. Hook one set to the jacks marked Front A and the other to the jacks marked Front B in small print. Use the Speaker button on the front to switch between them. It may or may not allow you to drive them both at the same time.

Second, if you don't want to also use the receiver for home theater/surround sound, and your receiver has an 'all stereo' or '7 channel stereo' mode or something similar, it can effectively run 3 sets of speakers, albeit with no individual control. You could wire volume controls in line to each set of speakers to get your own manual control. Wire as above and add a third set to the Surround jacks and then choose the All Stereo mode.

Beyond this, things get a bit more complicated, as you need to add a speaker control box. This seems simple, but realize that most of these wire in the additional speakers in parallel, which reduces the load seen by the amplifier, and can damage your equipment. These typically recommend an amplifier that can drive 4 ohms which yours cannot, so research carefully.

Another option is to do the above, and add an impedance matching volume control at each set of speakers, which would allow you to tailor the load to work for your particular components. Again, tread carefully.

Is this receiver strictly for running these ceiling speakers? Or does it also control your home theater?

I would run it as suggested above, to Front A, and B. You should be able to select either A, B or both to play.

Yes this reciever is only running the ciling speakers. thanks for taking the time to give such a detailed response.

well here are the products i used and as for wiring, i ran a pair of wires from the receiver to each of the 5 different volume controls throughout the house. then from each control i ran out to 1 or 2 speakers wired in parallel.

    FEATURES AND BENEFITS
    (In-Wall and In-Ceiling Models)
    • Kevlar® composite woofer – Woofer construction combines
exceptional rigidity and lightness to provide the perfect linear
movement needed to reproduce dynamic, tight bass and
    incisive midrange frequencies
    • AeroNylon tweeter diaphragm – Aerospace-grade
nylon tweeter diaphragm combines very low mass and high
tensile strength to provide crystal-clear treble response and
exceptionally accurate tracking of even the most challenging
    musical transients
    • AutoSurge™ circuit protection – Built-in AutoSurge
protection responds to potentially destructive power peaks
automatically and resets after the event, helping prevent
    speaker damage
    • Advanced phase/time alignment guide – A precise
phase/time waveguide is used to properly align sound without
mis-aligning the tweeters – a problem with many adjustable
in-wall speakers – in order to provide extremely accurate
    stereo imaging
    • Precision dividing network – The dividing network (or
crossover) used in all Spec-Grade Sound speakers is made of
high-spec components to ensure total audio signal electronic
integrity up to the last microsecond before the signal is
    converted into sound
    • Inert mounting frame with “dogleg” installation
points – To eliminate any transmitted vibrations that could
color in-wall or ceiling sound quality, Spec-Grade Sound
speakers rely on a baffle-frame assembly incorporating
higher-density plastics and a series of adjustable “doglegs”
to rigidly clamp the speaker to the wall or ceiling material
